Background: The present meta-analysis examined the diagnostic accuracy of T2 Candida for candidiasis. Methods: The literature databases, such as PubMed, Embase, DVIO, Cochrane library, Web of Science, and CNKI, were searched on T2 Candida detection. Results: A total of 8 articles, comprising of 2717 research subjects, were included in the study. The pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.91 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.88–0.94) and 0.94 95% CI: 0.93–0.95), respectively. The pooled positive likelihood ratio and negative likelihood ratio was 10.16 (95% CI: 2.75–37.50) and 0.08 (95% CI: 0.02–0.35), respectively. The combined diagnostic odds ratio is 133.65 95% CI: 17.21–1037.73), and the AUC of SROC is 0.9702 [(SE = 0.0235), Q* = 0.9201(SE = 0.0381)]. Conclusions: The current evidence supported that T2 Candida has high accuracy and sensitivity and is of major clinical significance in the diagnosis of Candida infection.

Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Rapid detection is crucial for effective prevention and treatment. This study developed and tested a low-cost effective method for detecting N. gonorrhoeae, especially in developing countries. DNA from a N. gonorrhoeae standard strain, as well as from 26 genital secretion samples of gonorrhea patients, were isolated and used for loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay, which was conducted using either an automatic real-time PCR analyzer or a water bath. The amplified porA pseudogene sequence was compared with the NCBI database and the LAMP results were compared with that of the traditional culture method for its sensitivity and specificity. LAMP was able to detect Neisseria DNA at a concentration as low as 1 pg/µL (1 × 103 CFU/mL cells). The LAMP assay results obtained using an automatic real-time PCR analyzer was similar to that of the water bath. Relative to traditional culture, the sensitivity and specificity of the LAMP assay were 94.7 and 85.7%, respectively. LAMP was sensitive and reliable for detecting the porA gene of N. gonorrhoeae. It could be used as a rapid, low cost, and effective method for detecting N. gonorrhoeae.

Streptococcus agalactiae is a major pathogenic bacterium causing perinatal infections in humans. In the present study, a novel real-time fluorescence loop-mediated isothermal amplification technology was successfully developed and evaluated for the detection of S. agalactiae in a single reaction. Six specific primers were designed to amplify the corresponding six regions of fbs B gene of S. agalactiae, using Bst DNA polymerase with DNA strand displacement activity at a constant temperature for 60 min. The presence of S. agalactiae was indicated by the fluorescence in real-time. Amplification of the targeted gene fragment was optimized with the primer 1 in the current setup. Positive result was only obtained for Sa by Real-LAMP among 10 tested relevant bacterial strains, with the detection sensitivity of 300 pg/µl. Real-LAMP was demonstrated to be a simple and rapid detection tool for S. agalactiae with high specificity and stability, which ensures its wide application and broad prospective utilization in clinical practice for the rapid detection of S. agalactiae.

Background: Currently, the spread and prevalence of carbapenem-resistant gram-negative bacteria cause a worldwide health problem, significantly affecting patients’ prognosis. Therefore, reliable detection of carbapenemases is crucial for managing and controlling infections. Numerous investigations have shown that the innovative immunochromatographic assay NG-Test Carba 5 has great sensitivity and specificity for carbapenemase typing. This meta-analysis aimed to comprehensively assess the efficacy of the NG-Test Carba 5 in the clinical detection of carbapenemase-producing gram-negative bacteria. Methods: Previously published articles were systematically reviewed, relevant data were extracted, and the results were pooled and analyzed using Meta-DiSk 1.4 and Stata 12.0 software. Results: The sensitivity, specificity, positive LR value, and negative LR value for the identification of carbapenemase-type KPC, NDM, VIM, IMP, and OXA-48-like by immunochromatographic NG-Test Carba 5 using PCR as gold standard were 0.97 [95% CI (0.97, 0.98)], 0.99 [95% CI (0.99, 1.00)], 65.38 [95% CI (36.73, 116.39)], and 0.03 [95% CI (0.02, 0.05)], respectively, and the combined diagnostic odds ratio was 2,734.42 [95% CI (1,464.05, 5,107.12)]. The AUC of the SROC curve was 0.9976.Conclusion: In summary, the NG-Test Carba 5 is a clinical test that can identify and quickly detect five major carbapenemases, thus offering valuable insights for clinical decision-making and infection control.
