Determination of optimal safe distance between buildings is a task of many safety and economic analyses. Generally, it is known that increasing separation distance increases fire protection of an adjacent building, but decreases the cost...

This paper analyzes the specific absorption rate and the temperature elevation of the brain within an adult?s man head exposed to electromagnetic radiation. The source of electromagnetic radiation is a contemporary mobile phone operating at 900 MHz. Simulations were performed on an anatomically accurate AustinMan 2.6 voxel-based human model with a resolution of 1 ? 1 ? 1 mm3. The thermal analysis focuses on temperature distribution on the brain surface in fixed time steps during one hour of continuous mobile phone use.

Motor vehicle fires represent a specific field of research within scientific field of fire protection. A considerably larger part of this research is dedicated to the causes of vehicle fires and the manners of their detection. However, little attention is dedicated to research of potential fire development once it has already started and the possibilities of its transferring to nearby materials and objects. This type of research is aimed at determining 'safe' distance from a vehicle on fire in order to postpone as much as possible or prevent igniting of surrounding materials, vehicles and parts of nearby facilities. The results of this type of research can be applied on determining 'safe' distance when designing parking lots, subterranean garages and generally the spaces where several parked vehicles can be found or in cases a facility is located in their vicinity.

Planning, construction and maintenance of forest roads is extremely important for successful firefighting in a certain area. This study focuses on the current technical infrastructure in the state forests of Serbia. The average openness of forests in Serbia at the end of 2019 was 20.14 m/ha, while 21.89 m/ha was occupied by public roads. In the period from 2011 to 2019, the average openness of state forests with public roads in Serbia decreased by 3.12 m/ha, or by 1.67 m/ha. The openness of forests by forest roads is the largest and optimal in the Vojvodina region (131.5 m/ha) and significantly lower and insufficient in Belgrade regions (0.35 m/ha), Sumadija and Western Serbia (2.8 m/ha), and Southern and Eastern Serbia (1.8 m/ha). Compared to 2011, the openness of forests in 2019 increased in the Vojvodina region and decreased in other regions in Serbia. Forest roads that have asphalt, concrete or cobblestone lanes are the least represented, about 0.27%. The largest representation of forest roads with a base (stone or gravel hard bottom layer) is about 82.7%.

This paper explores the distribution pattern of SAR1g within the adult male head during utilization of hands-free operation of contemporary mobile phones as a source of electromagnetic radiation. The research assesses the optimal positioning of the mobile phone by examining three distinct orientations to determine the minimal SAR1g distribution compared to the conventional talking position when hands-free feature is not utilized. The analysis encompasses GSM bands operating at 900 MHz and 1800 MHz, depending on the alignment between the mobile phone and the head.
