The Web search has special characteristics against the desktop search when realized from mobile devices. To establish an improvement within this paradigm, an option is to take into account the context from which the search is developed. To conceptualize the mobile context, we propose the use of ontologies, which will include the device characteristics, environmental conditions and user preferences, among other term conceptualizations. This context definition would be used to determinate the behavior of a word recommendation when searching from mobile devices. As an essential process of creating this context ontology, we have made a real user's evaluation of the ontology terms by means of a survey. This paper shows a brief introduction to the project and focuses mainly on the results obtained in this concept's evaluation.

An immersive interface is designed to improve communication for individuals with hearing impairments and speech disabilities. This interface integrates advanced speech-to-text and TTS technologies, facilitating real-time communication for educational settings. The speech-to-text technology transcribes the teacher's spoken words into text, displayed on an immersive augmented reality headset. Additionally, TTS technology vocalizes the student's typed responses through a virtual keyboard, enabling verbal communication with the teacher and peers. By focusing on cooperative learning and social computing, this study explores how to implement a conversational user interface, ensuring trustworthiness and reliability. Preliminary design insights and strategic implementation efforts aim to demonstrate the interface's potential as a transformative communication tool in assistive technology. The research highlights the collaborative aspects of educational environments, showing how augmented reality can enhance student social interaction. This research uses advanced technology to support, mediate, and enhance human social interactions, creating more inclusive and effective educational experiences.

This paper describes and analyzes the state of research in Voice User Interfaces (VUIs) in Latin America based on the review of scientific documents published in SCOPUS from 1999 to June 2020, through a bibliometric analysis. We analyzed 419 academic papers. Although a gradual increase is observed over the years, the number of published documents has increased considerably since 2014. Brazil (44%) and Mexico (28%) are the countries with more documents published. Co-authorship occurs between Latin American countries (Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, and Costa Rica). However, the mayor collaboration from Latin American countries occurs with the United States, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Japan. The main researched topics are studies of automatic speech recognition, artificial intelligence, speech processing, and human-computer interaction, which have grown over the past few years. Natural language processing, conversational agents, user experience, and chatbots are keywords related to more recent studies. Our analysis reveals that the primary active research developed in the short-term future are personal assistants and assistive technology using voice user interfaces.

In an unprecedented effort to comprehensively address the issues of gender violence, harassment, and bullying, the University of Guadalajara has implemented a support structure that involves the University Rights Ombudsman (DDU, Defensoria de los Derechos Universitarios, acronym in Spanish), the Unit for Equality (UI, Unidad de Igualdad, acronym in Spanish), and the First Contact offices (PC, Primeros Contactos, acronym in Spanish). Furthermore, The University of Guadalajara has established the Protocol for the Prevention, Attention, Sanction, and Eradication of gender violence (PPASE, Protocolo para la Prevención, Atención, Sansión y Erradicación de la Violencia de Género, acronym in Spanish) [1]. The University of Guadalajara has a network of university campuses throughout the state of Jalisco in Mexico. The Centro Universitario del Sur is one of these campuses, commonly referred to as CUSur. Despite these significant advancements in the implementation of the PPASE, the university community at CUSur generally faces challenges in understanding the processes, situations, and characteristics of these entities and regulations, placing victims or potential victims in a vulnerable situation. It is essential to expedite the information and attention processes for potential victims, and in this regard, technology can play a pivotal role. We are developing a technological intervention strategy to facilitate access for the university community, especially for victims who need to utilize the resources offered by the University of Guadalajara. To achieve this goal, we research user experience and identify the current usability of the webpage, focusing on understanding specific needs and challenges. The goal is to design an intuitive and appealing user interface that provides clear and accessible information about the available processes, services, and resources. Leveraging best practices in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is expected to enhance the visualization of the attention processes and foster trust in the entities responsible for providing support.
