Information

Born in Rome on July 13th 1964. PhD obtained in 1994. Employed as an Assistant Professor in 1995 at the University of Bologna, where he is attached to the DIN Department. In 2001 he became an Associate Professor of Machine Design. In 2016 he became a Full Professor of Machine Design. Since 2007 he was made Director of the Italian Design Summer School: art, society and industry. He has been part of the Academic Board of the Doctorate in Automotive for a smart mobility proposed by the DIN of the University of Bologna. He has been, finally, one of the Editors of the journal "Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science" from 2018. Since 2018 he has been the Head of Interdepartmental Centre for Industrial Research in Advanced Mechanical Engineering Applications and Materials Technology of the University of Bologna. From 2002 to now he has been the Scientific Coordinator of numerous research projects for which he has managed, directly and indirectly, a total amount more than 600,000 Euros of funding. The research activity is mainly focused on the following fields: additive manufacturing, shaft-hub connection, threaded connection, friction coefficient definition, fatigue behaviour of additive manufactured materials, adhesive bolted and interference fit joints (hybrid joints). He holds a patent as an inventor. He is in charge of the Advanced Automotive Engineering Master Course.
