Fossil fuel depletion and soil and water pollution gave impetus to the development of a novel perspective of sustainable development. In addition to the use of plant biomass for ethanol production, plants can be used to reduce the concentration of heavy metals in soil and water. Due to tolerance to high levels of metals, many plant species, crops, non-crops, medicinal, and pharmaceutical energy plants are well-known metal hyperaccumulators. This paper focuses on studies investigating the potential of Miscanthus sp., Beta vulgaris L., Saccharum sp., Ricinus communis L. Prosopis sp. and Arundo donax L. in heavy metal removal and biofuel production. Phytoremediation employing these plants showed great potential for bioaccumulation of Co, Cr, Cu, Al, Pb, Ni, Fe, Cd, Zn, Hg, Se, etc. This review presents the potential of lignocellulose plants to remove pollutants being a valuable substrate for biofuel production. Also, pretreat-ments, dealing with toxic biomass, and biofuel production are discussed.

This paper focuses on the workforce capable of implementing new trends through the application of environmental tourism and IT knowledge. Multi-criteria optimization methods such as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) were used to solve a particular and sensitive business decision problem. A unique questionnaire on five global trends - renewable energy growth, pollution, electrification, cloudification, data boom and smartization - was developed to assess the capabilities of potential candidates in relation to environmental issues in tourism and to determine whether they are able to solve tasks in a sustainable way. This paper proposes an approach for the selection of candidates for sustainable and green tourism. From 200 candidates, data collected in a northern region of Serbia in the fall of 2023, the model resulted in the 5 best alternatives under 5 criteria. The final solution was the alternative/candidate B with the consistency index 0.03. The intention was that by combining AHP and DEA methods to evaluate efficiency, the subjectivity of decision making in the selection of candidates would be minimized. The new value of this work could be that advanced technologies are integrated into sustainable tourism in a practical and scalable way, and that methods for evaluating and implementing the technologies in question are developed. This could form the basis for future research and practical applications.

The Republic Health Insurance Fund is in charge of management and securing of compulsory insurance, while voluntary insurance can be ensured through private insurance. The subject of this paper is the analysis of the way of introduction and application of modern management in primary, and/or preventive health activity that is identified as the agent of changes in the reform of the health system of Serbia, with reference to all its segments and elements that directly influence on providing the health services (planning - mission identification, goals and strategies, implementation and evaluation), using the examples from practice. Primary health care is integral, permanent and comprehensive part of formal system of health care in all states, and/or it is considered as the means by which two basic goals of health care system are balanced - optimization and balance in the distribution of health services through the system of high-quality health management. It is recognized as a potential solution in functioning of the health care system with the need of shifting the focus on the preventive, and/or taking over of 80% of total health services that should be provided in the primary health care. So the theme of this paper is exclusively current and necessary so as to determine the level of application of modern management in the institutions of primary health care, as well as to start the processes toward the raising the level of the same.

Since today is the central role of the health care system, both developed and developing countries, based on science and the goals of prevention activities in the field of medicine, prolonging life and promoting health through the organized efforts of the community, supporting the new paradigm is the strategic management of health care system. This paradigm is the mobilization of community resources, including specific resources of health care, with the aim to improve the health of the entire population. Analytical access to management, showing that the overall improvement of health care and the growing complexity of its role changes and the paradigm of his system: from bureaucratic lethargy and application of the principles of general management, through access to human relations and human resources, the general theory and cultural organization that continuously learns and works on the basis of evidence from scientific research.

The notion of sustainable development in a line with local economic development emerged in the seventies of the 20th century when local authorities in the western countries realized that their local communities had begun abandoning mobile capital, which resulted in limiting their economic potentials and opportunities for citizens' employment. This necessitated both a detailed study of the local economic potentials, the determination of best ways to use, maintain and develop them, and a thorough examination of the impediments to the local community's economic development. Local economic development is also seen as a process of certain changes, where, in the competition for the market, economic and country dominance, local governments, despite their status as the lowest level of public administration, are recognized as competitors in the market and, in collaboration with the economic sector, try to be more innovative and more competitive among them.

Agriculture is the world’s most important industry. According to the structure, Šumadija district is mainly composed of arable land and gardens, which make up 69%. The increased amount of COVID-19 waste generated from medical activities in rural areas needs to be properly handled due to its contagious, even lethal properties. The aim of this study is an analysis of two drivers through the generation of COVID-19 waste, Central and local treatment site, proposed transport routes, and total cost in Šumadija district. Results showed the economic costs of transportation increased 2.5 times compared to before and after the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, the increase in health risk was correlated to the increase in the per capita cost of transportation along the transportation routes. Analyses of human health risks and detailed financial calculations gave a clear insight in infectious waste management possible influence on agriculture.
