Prof. Dr. Gianni Barcaccia is a Full Professor of Plant Genetics and Genomics at the School of Agriculture Science and Veterinary Medicine, University of Padova, Italy, and an Adjunct
Professor of Plant Breeding at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA. He also serves as a principal investigator of the Laboratory of Plant Genetics and Genomics for Plant Breeding of
the University of Padova and the Director of the Department of Agronomy, Food, Natural Resources, Animals, and Environment (DAFNAE), University of Padova, Italy, for the academic years 2019–2023 and 2023–2027. He obtained his M.Sc. in
Agricultural Science from the Plant Breeding Institute, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Perugia, Italy, in 1991 and his Ph.D. in Crop Science from the Genetics of Plant Reproductive Systems, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padova, Italy, in 1995. He worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Plant Population Genetics at the University of Perugia, Italy, from 1996 to 1997. His research
interests include genomics of reproductive systems, gene expression studies, population genetics, molecular markers, and plant breeding. He is the author of more than 150 peer-reviewed articles, 3 academic books, and 8 book chapters.
