Prof. Dr. Bahram Arjmandi is a Professor & the Director at the Center for Advanced Exercise and Nutrition Research on Aging, College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, Florida State University. He earned his B.S. in Nutritional Sciences & Food Chemistry from The Iranian Institute of Nutrition Sciences & Food Technology, M.S. inIndustrial Microbiology from the Pittsburg State University, Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from Kansas State University, and Postdoctoral fellow from Department of Cellular & Integrative Physiology, University of Texas Health Sciences Center. He is the first investigator to provide evidence for estrogen receptors in the gut to aid in calcium transport; demonstrate the efficacy of dried plum in protecting bone in the absence of estrogen; and the bone-protective effects of soy in ovarian hormone deficiency. His research interests include the role of functional foods, bioactive compounds, and nutraceuticals in prevention and treatment of chronic diseases and conditions, such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular health, and osteoarthritis, in vitro, in vivo, and in clinical trials.
