Dr. Deepak Gautam serves as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Forestry, Tribhuvan University, Pokhara Campus, Nepal. With over a decade of experience in academia, Dr. Gautam has contributed substantially to the fields of ecological research and natural resource management, especially within the context of the Nepalese Himalayas. His educational background includes a PhD in Ecology from Beijing Forestry University, an MSc in Natural Resource Management and Rural Development, and a BSc in Forestry, both from Tribhuvan University. Throughout his career, Dr. Gautam has published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals. His research is notably interdisciplinary, covering areas such as dendroclimatology, biodiversity conservation, human-wildlife conflict, ethnomedicine, invasive species, and climate change. In his studies on dendroclimatology, Dr. Gautam explores the growth patterns of Himalayan tree species like Pinus wallichiana, shedding light on how climate variables, particularly moisture and temperature, impact tree growth across altitudinal gradients. These studies are valuable for understanding the broader implications of climate change on forest ecosystems in mountainous regions.
