Gianfranco Carotenuto earned, from the University Federico II of Naples, a degree in Chemistry (1991) and a Doctoral in ‘Materials Technology and Industrial Plants’ (1994). He is now Research Director at the Institute for Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials (IPCB-CNR) of the Italian National Research Council. His work in ‘Functional Nanomaterials’ has resulted in 200 publications, presentations and patents. His research interests include: functional materials; polymeric nanocomposites; nanostructured materials; graphene and other carbon nanomaterials; 2D nanostructures; molybdenum disulfide; nanostructured coatings; natural zeolites; functional polymers; polyacetylene; biomimetics.
