The paper proposes the adaptation of the industrial plant’s power network to supply electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging converters (above 300 kW) using renewable energy sources (RESs). A 600 V DC microgrid was used to supply energy from RESs for the needs of variable speed motor drives and charging of EV batteries. It has been shown that it is possible to support the supply of drive voltage frequency converters (VFCs) and charging of EV batteries converters with renewable energy from a 600 V DC microgrid, which improves the power quality indicators in the power system. The possibility of implementing the fast EV batteries charging station to the industrial plant’s power system in such a way that the system energy demand is not increased has also been shown. The EV battery charging station using the drive converter has been presented, as well as the results of simulation and laboratory tests of the proposed solution.

In order to analyze the nature of electrical demand series in deregulated electricity markets, various forecasting tools have been used. All these forecasting models have been developed to improve the accuracy of the reliability of the model. Therefore, a Wavelet Packet Decomposition (WPD) was implemented to decompose the demand series into subseries. Each subseries has been forecasted individually with the help of the features of that series, and features were chosen on the basis of mutual correlation among all-time lags using an Auto Correlation Function (ACF). Thus, in this context, a new hybrid WPD-based Linear Neural Network with Tapped Delay (LNNTD) model, with a cyclic one-month moving window for a one-year market clearing volume (MCV) forecasting has been proposed. The proposed model has been effectively implemented in two years (2015–2016) and unconstrained MCV data collected from the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) for 12 grid regions of India. The results presented by the proposed models are better in terms of accuracy, with a yearly average MAPE of 0.201%, MAE of 9.056 MWh, and coefficient of regression (R2) of 0.9996. Further, forecasts of the proposed model have been validated using tracking signals (TS’s) in which the values of TS’s lie within a balanced limit between −492 to 6.83, and universality of the model has been carried out effectively using multiple steps-ahead forecasting up to the sixth step. It has been found out that hybrid models are powerful forecasting tools for demand forecasting.

Photovoltaic (PV) power systems are described in the article. Power generated from renewable energy sources is not stable because of the energy fluctuations caused mainly by atmospheric conditions. Therefore, in order to improve the parameters and stability of the power system, PV power plants should cooperate with electrical energy storage system such as electrochemical batteries. Moreover, because of the reason that PV power plants are often located on the terrain which is accessible by the man, galvanic isolation may be obligatory. Since the efficiency of the power conversion in PV power systems has to be maximized, soft switched resonant power converters, in which switching losses are minimized, are utilized in such PV power systems. Moreover, grid-connected PV inverter which is a crucial element of the PV power system is presented in the article.

This paper proposes a single-stage direct AC to high-frequency (HF) AC resonant converter based on LLC configuration for induction heating (IH) systems or HF applications. Unlike conventional converters for IH systems, the proposed topology converts the utility frequency to HF AC in a single stage without using a DC link inductor and capacitors and takes the advantages of LLC configuration. Additionally, it improves the power factor to 0.9–1, lowers the THD (3.2% experimentally), and protects against the high-frequency components. An embedded control scheme was designed to keep the HF current oscillating at a resonant frequency, ensuring zero-voltage switching. The operating principle of the proposed topology was investigated using mathematical equations and equivalent circuits. Finally, it was verified using computer simulation, and an experimental prototype of 1.1 kW was developed to demonstrate the proposed topology’s uniqueness.

This paper proposes the use of a frequency converter used in the AC motor drives to build a fast charging battery converter for electric vehicles (EV). The possibility of using semiconductor integrated modules with two-level inverters and diode rectifiers for the construction of high power voltage DC/DC converters has been demonstrated. The DC voltage of the EV battery during charging is obtained by rectifying the three-phase voltage of the PWM inverter. A 600 V DC microgrid was used to power the inverter. Simulation tests of the DC/DC converter model were carried out. The results of simulation tests were verified experimentally on a laboratory stand.
