Dr. Fatih Karpat is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bursa Uludağ University, Turkey. He earned his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Uludağ University. Dr. Karpat joined the university faculty in 2011, became an associate professor in 2014, and a full professor in 2020. He served as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 2020 to 2022 and has been the Vice Chair of the department since 2011. Additionally, he has been the Institutional Coordinator of the Mevlana Exchange Program since 2013. He has also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Texas Tech University. Dr. Karpat directs the Product Design and Development Laboratory and has published extensively, with 80 refereed journal articles, 82 conference papers, six book chapters, and one book. He has supervised numerous graduate students and mentored postdoctoral researchers. With significant research funding, Dr. Karpat's interests include power transmission systems, lightweight designs, advanced joining technology, machine learning, fault diagnosis, biomechanics, electric vehicles, and sustainability. He teaches the undergraduate courses Machine Elements I-II and Sustainable Product Design, and the graduate courses Technological Innovation Management and Sustainable Design. Dr. Karpat is a member of several professional societies, including ESB, TBMMO, ASME, ORS, STLE and DAAAM.
