Chia-Hung Kuo is a professor in the Department of Seafood Science at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.  He underwent postdoctoral training at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (2009-2010) working with Prof. Cheng-Kang Lee and at National Chung Hsing University (2010-2013) working with a biocatalysis pioneer - Prof. Chwen-Jen Shieh. He received his BS degree (1997) in chemical engineering from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and his master's degree (1999) in food science and technology from National Taiwan University.  After serving two years in the army, he worked at Everlight Chemical Industrial Co. as an engineer for three years.  In 2005, he went to the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology to pursue his Ph. D. degree in chemical engineering, which he completed in 2009, after serving at NKUST, the second-largest university in Taiwan. He has received several awards including the Outstanding New Teacher Award (2016), Outstanding Research Award (2018), and Special Outstanding Research Talent Award (2018–2022). His main research interests focus on process biochemistry, biocatalysis, food engineering, food analysis, extraction, oil and fat processing, and fermentation biotechnology. He is recognized as one of the World’s Top 2% Scientists in 2024, specializing in Chemistry, with subfields in Biotechnology and Food Science.
