Software-defined networking (SDN) is an innovative network paradigm, offering substantial control of network operation through a network’s architecture. SDN is an ideal platform for implementing projects involving distributed applications, security solutions, and decentralized network administration in a multitenant data center environment due to its programmability. As its usage rapidly expands, network security threats are becoming more frequent, leading SDN security to be of significant concern. Machine-learning (ML) techniques for intrusion detection of DDoS attacks in SDN networks utilize standard datasets and fail to cover all classification aspects, resulting in under-coverage of attack diversity. This paper proposes a hybrid technique to recognize denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks that combine deep learning and feedforward neural networks as autoencoders. Two datasets were analyzed for the training and testing model, first statically and then iteratively. The auto-encoding model is constructed by stacking the input layer and hidden layer of self-encoding models’ layer by layer, with each self-encoding model using a hidden layer. To evaluate our model, we use a three-part data split (train, test, and validate) rather than the common two-part split (train and test). The resulting proposed model achieved a higher accuracy for the static dataset, where for ISCX-IDS-2012 dataset, accuracy reached a high of 99.35% in training, 99.3% in validation and 99.99% in precision, recall, and F1-score. for the UNSW2018 dataset, the accuracy reached a high of 99.95% in training, 0.99.94% in validation, and 99.99% in precision, recall, and F1-score. In addition, the model achieved great results with a dynamic dataset (using an emulator), reaching a high of 97.68% in accuracy.

Many software systems need to be developed with adaptation in mind, where at runtime they need to detect changes in their operating environments and adapt themselves to cope with these changes while achieving or preserving the overall system goals. In recent years, there has been much research in the communities of context-aware systems and self-adaptive systems with their own foci. However, addressing context awareness and self-adaptation in a consistent and integrated manner remains a major challenge. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach to modeling and realizing such context-aware adaptive software systems. Our approach explicitly separates but relates the context model and the system model, so that their relationships, changes, and change impacts across the system and its contexts can be clearly captured and managed. In particular, we differentiate management context from operational context as to whether or not context changes cause system adaptation. To enable runtime changes to the system, its contexts, and their relationships, they all have their runtime representation, so that they can be manipulated and managed at runtime. Our component model for realizing the approach directly supports component interface definitions for context and management as well as functionality. Furthermore, we have developed a tool to generate the system implementations from their models and to validate and verify their context-aware adaptive behavior. We demonstrate our approach through the modeling and realization of a context-aware vehicle route planning system.

Particularly compared to other diseases, heart disease (HD) claims the lives of the greatest number of people worldwide. Many priceless lives can be saved with the help of early and effective disease identification. Medical tests, an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal, heart sounds, computed tomography (CT) images, etc. can all be used to identify HD. Of all sorts, HD signal recognition from ECG signals is crucial. The ECG samples from the participants were taken into consideration as the necessary inputs for the HD detection model in this study. Many researchers analyzed the risk factors of heart disease and used machine learning or deep learning techniques for the early detection of heart patients. In this paper, we propose a modified version of the LeNet-5 model to be used as a transfer model for cardiovascular disease patients. The modified version is compared to the standard version using four evaluation metrics: accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The achieved results indicated that when the LeNet-5 model was modified by increasing the number of used filters, this increased the model's ability to handle the ECGs dataset and extract the most important features from it. The results also showed that the modified version of the LeNet-5 model based on the ECGs image dataset improved accuracy by 9.14 percentage points compared to the standard LeNet-5 model.
