Biography

I am currently a Researcher in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. Over the past 12 years, during my PhD and first postdoctoral experience at the Laboratory of t Sediment Provenance Studies of the University of Milano-Bicocca, I have focused my research on the provenance of modern and ancient sediments from major river systems worldwide. I have investigated their petrographic and mineralogical composition using a polarizing microscope and Raman spectroscopy to characterize the effects of source rocks, climate, sediment transport mechanisms, and diagenesis in modern and ancient settings. In 2020, a project funded by IODP-CNR Italia allowed me to expand my research to the Bengal Fan, investigating the petrography and mineralogy of turbiditic sediments recovered during IODP Expeditions 353–354. I continued my research during a two-and-a-half-year postdoctoral position at the Centre de Recherches Pétrographiques et Géochimiques (CRPG-CNRS), France, where I integrated petrographic and mineralogical approaches with bulk and single-grain geochemical and isotopic analyses, including O, C, and Sr isotopes. My research aims to reconstruct sediment routing and Himalayan source evolution, paleodrainage changes, and their relationships with Himalayan uplift and the Indian monsoon
