Biography

Marco Marradi has been an Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry “Ugo Schiff” (DICUS), University of Florence (UNIFI), Italy, since 2019. He leads research at the interface between organic synthesis, glycoscience, and nanotechnology. His work centers on carbohydrate-based multivalent systems for precision nanomedicine and targeted delivery applications. He earned his PhD in Chemical Sciences from UNIFI in 2005 with a thesis on stereoselective synthesis of biologically active molecules. He was a Senior Researcher at CIDETEC Nanomedicine and at CIC biomaGUNE (Spain) from 2007 to 2018, contributing to the development of novel biofunctional glyco-nanomaterials. He coordinates major European research initiatives, including the MSCA Doctoral Networks “CanGoNano” (G.A. 101226412) and “GlyCanDrug” (G.A. 101119601), and is a PI of the PRIN2022 project “GlycoNanoVacs” on glyconanomaterials for antigen delivery to dendritic cells and the H2020-MSCA-RISE “SUPRO-GEN” project (G.A. 101008072) on polyamine gene vectors for cancer therapy. He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 33, Scopus) and supervised numerous doctoral and master’s theses. He has been a member of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), Rector's Delegate as DICUS Referent for scientific research since 2019, and member of the Teaching Board of the PhD in Chemical Sciences at UNIFI since 2021.
