Ping Jack Soh was born in Sabah, Malaysia. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2002 and 2006, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium, in 2013.
He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Oulu, Finland, and a Research Affiliate with KU Leuven. He started his career as a Test Engineer in Venture Corp. Malaysia from 2002 to 2004 and joined Motorola Solutions, Malaysia, as an R&D Engineer in 2005. He was then a Lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) (2006-2009) before moving to KU Leuven as a Research Assistant (2009-2013) and Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2013-2014). He went back to serve in UniMAP as a Senior Lecturer (2014-2017) and an Associate Professor till 2021, prior to his current role. To date, he has won, led, and successfully completed a handful of internationally and nationally funded projects and industry-funded projects in his areas of research interest: wearable antennas; compact satellite antennas; flexible metasurfaces; on-body communication; electromagnetic safety and absorption; and wireless and radar techniques for healthcare.
Dr. Soh was the recipient of the URSI Young Scientist Award in 2015, the IEEE MTT-S Graduate Fellowship for Medical Applications in 2013, and the IEEE AP-S Doctoral Research Award in 2012.
