Biography

Dr. Rui Gao is Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical and Macromolecular Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Charles University (Prague). She earned a BSc in Applied Chemistry (Beijing University of Chemical Technology, 2013) and a PhD in Chemistry (BUCT, 2019), and was a visiting scholar at Case Western Reserve University (2017–2018). After a postdoctoral fellowship in the George M. Whitesides group at Harvard University (2019–2023), she joined VITO (Belgium) to develop membrane–electrode assemblies and efficiency workflows for hydrogen systems, serving as R&D Professional (2023–2024) and Project Manager (2025) on industrial collaborations. Her research focuses on advance electrocatalysis for sustainable energy (CO₂ reduction, selective oxidation, and hydrogen production). Selected outputs include work on magnetic-field-enhanced mass transport in CO₂ electroreduction (Chem Catalysis, 2022) and a Wiley Top Cited Article on Ni/Fe water-oxidation catalysts (Adv. Energy Mater., 2020). Honours include the China Excellent Patent Award, the Nano Research Top Papers Award, and a Wiley Top Cited Article recognition.
