Background: This study aimed to investigate the effect of the time from diagnosis to breast cancer surgery on breast cancer patients’ prognosis. Methods: Of the 1900 patients diagnosed with invasive (stage 1–3) breast cancer who underwent surgery in KUH between 2012 and 2019, 279 patients were enrolled in this study. All patients, including those who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy, were classified as Model 1 subjects, and those who received immediate surgical treatment were classified as Model 2 subjects. We conducted a Cox regression analysis to identify prognostic factors of breast cancer associated with the time from diagnosis to surgery. Results: The univariate results indicated a sharp drop in both groups’ survival rates when the time to surgery was delayed for more than 8 weeks (Model 1 p = 0.000; Model 2 p = 0.001). In the multivariate analysis, the hazard ratio (HR) of Model 1increased (HR = 6.84, 95% CI 1.06–44.25) in response to a delay in surgery of more than 8 weeks. Smoking and the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system had a negative effect on breast cancer prognosis, while hormone therapy had a positive effect. Conclusion: For all patients, a delay in breast cancer surgery of more than 8 weeks was inversely associated with survival.

Background: Electronic health record (EHR) data are anticipated to inform the development of health policy systems across countries and furnish valuable insights for the advancement of health and medical technology. As the current paradigm of clinical research is shifting toward data centricity, the utilization of health care data is increasingly emphasized. Objective: We aimed to review the literature on clinical data quality management and define a process for ensuring the quality management of clinical data, especially in the secondary utilization of data. Methods: A systematic review of PubMed articles from 2010 to October 2023 was conducted. A total of 82,346 articles were retrieved and screened based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, narrowing the number of articles to 851 after title and abstract review. Articles focusing on clinical data quality management life cycles, assessment methods, and tools were selected. Results: We reviewed 105 papers describing the clinical data quality management process. This process is based on a 4-stage life cycle: planning, construction, operation, and utilization. The most frequently used dimensions were completeness, plausibility, concordance, security, currency, and interoperability. Conclusions: Given the importance of the secondary use of EHR data, standardized quality control methods and automation are necessary. This study proposes a process to standardize data quality management and develop a data quality assessment system.

Research carried out over the last few decades has shown that nanomaterials for energy storage and conversion require higher performance and greater stability. The nanomaterials synthesized by diverse techniques, such as sol-gel, hydrothermal, microwave, and co-precipitation methods, have brought energy storage and conversion systems to the center stage of practical application but they still cannot meet the capacity and mass production demands. Most reviews in the literature discuss in detail the issues related to nanomaterials with a range of structures synthesized using the above methods to enhance the performance. On the other hand, there have been few critical examinations of use of the electrophoresis process for the synthesis of nanomaterials for energy storage and conversion. The nanomaterials synthesized by electrophoresis processes related to colloidal interface science in the literature are compared according to the conditions to identify promising materials that are being or could be developed to satisfy the capacity and mass production demands. Therefore, a literature survey is of the use of electrophoresis deposition processes to synthesize nanomaterials for energy storage and conversion and the correlations of the electrophoresis conditions and properties of the resulting nanomaterials from a practical point of view.
