New tourism destinations and product supply are increasingly popular strategies among industry players to create competitiveness. The tourism industry has become more vibrant since globalization merged with technological changes, thus influencing human travel movements, lifestyles, and current trends. The purpose of the study was to systematically review and analyse the elements of new tourism destination products and the importance of sustaining the tourism industry. The following five primary methodological steps were used in the review processes: review protocol; formulation of research questions; systematic searching strategies based on identification, screening, and eligibility on Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases; quality appraisal and data extraction; analysis. Seven major themes were discovered, based on the thematic analysis: (a) Responsibilities and involvement, (b) Geography and resources, (c) Innovation, (d) Diversification, (e) Trend and travel pattern, (f) Sustainability, and (g) Marketing. The findings provide academics with a basic reference in scientific and design-related frameworks for examining new destinations and tourism products. The study also offers a guide for destination operators and industry stakeholders to be adopted for future destination development and management.

The growth of Indonesia’s automotive sector has increased the number of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), making ELV waste management a major issue. Most countries, such as Japan, China, and Europe, manage ELV waste well, but developing countries still do not. In developing countries, little is known about ELV social admissions. This study analyzes ELV management social acceptance in developing countries. Three hundred nine respondents from Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (the district in Indonesia) were surveyed in a cross-sectional. A set of questions was designed to determine social acceptance (attitude, knowledge, social influence, institutional trust, health issues, and acceptance). After passing validity and reliability tests, the hypothesized research model was estimated using structural equitation. According to this study, social influence, attitude, knowledge, institutional trust, and health issues influenced public acceptance. The health issues variable was also a good moderator (Adj. R2 = 0.173, p < 0.001, average path coefficient = 0.299). The analysis of social acceptance models related to ELV management found that social influence, attitude, knowledge, and institutional trust play a role in one’s desire to accept a new rule, and health issues can strengthen a person in the admission process.

The spatial structure of tourism plays a crucial role in regional development, as it not only improves resource utilization efficiency but also enhances regional competitiveness and development potential through spatial agglomeration effects. However, previous studies on tourism spatial structure tend to focus on a single perspective, leading to a lack of a thorough understanding of the tourism activity, thereby affecting the effectiveness of policies. Based on commonly used academic perspectives, this study uses ArcGIS spatial analysis to examine Shanxi Province’s tourism resource data from government supply and visitor demand dimensions. Results reveal that single-perspective analysis fails to fully capture the complexity of tourism spatial distribution, highlighting the need for a high-quality spatial structure. Thus, this study applies the theory of the ‘pole-axis’ to reconstruct the spatial structure of tourism in Shanxi Province. It also proposes the layout of ‘one pole, three axes, four districts, and seven centres.’ offering a theoretical foundation for optimizing Shanxi’s tourism spatial structure and strategic guidance for sustainable development. Moreover, it provides strategic guidance for developing high-quality tourism spatial structures in other regions.

The spatial patterns and evolution of retail outlet distribution are crucial to understanding urban development and economic growth. As urbanization accelerates and e-commerce continues to grow, retail landscapes worldwide are undergoing significant transformations. This study examines the evolution of retail outlet distribution in global scales, with a particular focus on the changing size and location of retail outlets across international, national, and urban scales. The primary challenge in the retail industry lies in adapting to these changes, which are influenced by various socio-economic and policy-driven factors. Despite a growing body of literature on this topic, the mechanisms behind retail evolution remain poorly understood, especially regarding how policies, consumer behavior, and technological changes shape retail spatial distribution. The objective of this study is to systematically review and analyze the historical evolution of retail outlet distribution and its driving mechanisms. A total of 7,066 articles were retrieved during the initial identification process, with 6,615 sourced from Web of Science (WoS) and 451 from Scopus. The review follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) criteria, encompassing five main steps: review protocol, formulation of research questions, identification, screening and eligibility, and quality appraisal and data extraction. The literature is analyzed through three primary themes: international, inter-city within country, and intra-city. The findings indicate that the evolution of retail distribution is closely tied to the spatial pattern of residential areas, government policies, and consumer behavior. This study highlights a significant gap in understanding the local, national, and international factors that shape retail development patterns. The implications of these findings are critical for urban planners, policymakers, and retail managers, offering insights into how retail networks can be designed more effectively, with a focus on sustainability and innovation. Future research should explore how these evolving patterns can contribute to more inclusive and balanced urban and economic growth.

Rapid urbanization in China has reshaped retail spatial structures, creating challenges of accessibility and service equity. This study employs a Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-based analytical framework to examine the spatial distribution and driving mechanisms of retail outlets in Taiyuan, a resource-based transition city in central China. Using 2023 Point of Interest (POI) data and a 2 km × 2 km grid system, kernel density estimation (KDE), Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN) Analysis, Location Quotient (LQ), and spatial autocorrelation were applied to identify clustering patterns and functional specialization. The GeoDetector (Word version, downloaded 2025) model further quantified the explanatory power of twelve natural, social, economic, and transportation variables. Results reveal a polycentric retail structure, with high-density clusters in Yingze and Xiaodian districts and under-supply in Jiancaoping and Jinyuan. Population density, nighttime light (NTL) intensity, and school distribution emerged as the strongest drivers, while topography constrained expansion. By integrating GIS-based spatial statistics with GeoDetector, the study demonstrates a transferable framework for analyzing urban retail spatial patterns. The findings extend retail geography to transition cities and provide practical guidance for optimizing retail allocation, enhancing service equity, and supporting spatial decision-making for sustainable urban development.

In the face of global environmental challenges, Malaysia, like many nations, is seeking to improve its environmental sustainability, and understanding how demographic factors influence individuals’ perceptions, attitudes, and readiness toward End-of-life Vehicle (ELV) management practices is crucial for developing effective policies and interventions. This study, which involved 630 participants of various age groups and employment backgrounds, examines the relationship between demographics and environmental awareness and readiness with a specific focus on the management of ELV. Significant findings reveal that younger individuals, particularly those aged 18 years, are actively engaged in environmental concerns, and the gender distribution is nearly equal, emphasizing a shared interest in ELV practices among men and females. Malays constitute the majority ethnic group, underlining the need for culturally sensitive and inclusive policies, and government employees exhibit greater knowledge about ELVs, while education levels positively correlate with awareness of ELVs. Positive attitudes are predominantly observed among private sector workers and government employees, with semi-government employees demonstrating the highest readiness for ELV initiatives, while the unemployed exhibit the lowest readiness. This research underscores the importance of demographic factors in shaping attitudes, knowledge and readiness concerning ELV management practices in Malaysia, highlighting the need for targeted strategies and interventions tailored to specific demographic groups, which are crucial for policy development and the promotion of sustainable practices, contributing to global environmental conservation efforts.
