Waste treatment consists of activities required to make sure that waste has the least practical impact on the environment. In Slovakia, more than 50% of waste is in storage. Waste development depends on the economic situation of the state. In Slovakia, there is economic intolerance of waste treatment due to the weaker economic situation of the inhabitants. The goal of this contribution is to study the development of waste production in Slovakia in regard to economic indexes of households with the aim of improving waste management. The goal is achieved by searching for a relation between economic indexes and households by a correlation matrix and by verification of polynomial dependence. According to the results of the statistical importance, we found similarity of the regions in chosen indexes by using of cluster analysis. By this method a sustainable economy and healthy environment is guaranteed and waste is used to produce energy.

The subject of the paper is the research of production technologies’ influence on positioning accuracy of a robotic arm. The aim was to find out whether different production technologies (additive and conventional) and the related design differences of the robotic arm affect its operational functionality. In the research, positioning accuracy of a robotic arm formed by three partial arms was specifically investigated, while the first partial arm, Arm I, was manufactured by two different technologies. On the robotic arm, the research was carried out in such a way that the first partial arm, Arm I, was being continuously changed and was available for research purposes in two variants. Each of the Arm I variants was manufactured using a different technology (additive and conventional) while, at the same time, the individual variants also differed in construction. The design differences of both variants were related to the production technology used. The measurement of positioning accuracy was performed with the use of two methods. Specifically, a contact and a non-contact method were used. The contact method was implemented on a 3D-measuring machine, RAPID, and the second contactless method was performed using an inductive sensor.

In the European Union, basic strategy results from the need to provide intelligent, sustainable, and inclusive growth, along with respect to social and economic impacts of waste treatment. The paper focuses on municipal waste and its separation. Generally, within global waste management initiatives, the main goal is to minimize the negative effects of waste on the environment, as well as to increase and optimize the sources’ efficiency in the waste economy. Research on municipal waste development and its separation was done in individual regions of Slovakia to find if socially weaker regions have worse waste treatment. The results were compared according to the waste development per inhabitant and per household, as well as through rate indexes, which are connected to relationships between waste, social, and economic indexes. The results confirmed research results from other countries that show that the volume of municipal waste is increasing due to increased living standards of inhabitants. However, on the other hand, waste separation rates also increased—mainly based on the legislative support.

The constant consumption of resources exerts pressure on the environment. In this sense, waste management has obtained increasing attention from the view of a circular economy. The European Union deals with these mentioned aspects, trying maintain long-term competitiveness and to provide sustainable development in accordance with all related environmental aspects. This paper focuses on the evaluation of the production of communal waste in 36 EU countries. The main aim is to evaluate the success of countries’ efforts to decrease waste production and increase recycling rates. The methodology used for the evaluation included data collected from the publicly available database Eurostat, consequent analyses and evaluation in the statistical software JMP 13 through regression, distribution, and cluster analysis, and the interpretation of the results. The results of the cluster analysis showed that despite clear EU waste management legislation, EU member states have significantly different waste management systems at the national level. However, generally, we could see positive correlation between the generation of waste and recycling rates. Although, Malta, Austria, Greece, and Norway recorded a decreasing level of waste recycling over the last several years, some countries (Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania) had significantly lower recycling rates accompanied by low landfill taxes. The evaluation of waste production and recycling can be used for government policy in the area of waste management, as well as for individual communities dealing with communal waste.

Part of the research of steel coils annealing process was physical model of the bell furnace design. The contribution deals with the verification of the suitability of created object, furnace, in terms of the annealing regimes repeatability. Statistical methods are used for verification. A common method for time series comparison is comparing of the time series values in corresponding sections. The task is complicated by the nature of the physical model, in which heating is by electrical spirals. It is needed time series transformation before the time series values comparison. The transformation procedure consists of smoothening of the time series and adjusting of the working start point. In this publication we will discuss optimization of the moving average sequence, which is used to smooth the time series.

Highlights•Equalizing of the contact forces according to the required tension forces.•Simulation of the contact forces as a result of various operational factors.•Regressive model parameters applied for interpolation of the contact forces.•Calculation of the model parameters and evaluation of model statistical significance.•Topographical graphs of contact forces for idler roll positions. AbstractEvery kind of transported bulk material influences operational characteristics of the pipe conveyors significantly. Therefore it is necessary so that users of the pipe belt conveyors are able to perform a more detailed investigation and monitoring of these characteristics. Thanks to information concerning the operational characteristics it is possible to analyse durability of the conveyor belt and extent of belt wearing. However, the process of data collection and identification is demanding and expensive on condition that such process would be realised only by means of measuring equipment. Much more effective is obtaining of the needed information using generalized knowledge in the form of graphs. Every operator of the pipe belt conveyor is able to obtain the required information based on known input values using the corresponding graphs. Afterwards, the obtained information can be applied in a real operation. This article deals with determination of the contact force values for a certain type of the conveyor belt. The contact forces can be estimated in the intersection of axis at the individual idler roll positions in dependence on the tension force and in dependence on the filling rate of the cross-sectional area of the piped belt with the material, taking into consideration the performed experimental measurements.

At technological processes of metallurgy and machine industry is metals heating one of the most important operations have influence on production in term of the efficiency, quality and costs. Charge inner temperature is an important variable in the heating process, because allows to determine the phase of the material treatment (change in the structure of the material). Currently, charge inner temperature is not measured for the following reasons: the design of the furnace (moving charge), destruction of a sensor during the process, the increased cost of furnace operation etc. This article describes a method for modelling the temperature in the charge, which is a steel coil. The method calculates the charge inner temperature by measured charge surface temperature in the annealing process. The resulting accuracy is evaluated by statistical methods.

Successfulness and prosperity of companies in the global market to a large extent depends on the ability to measure and evaluate the quality of their own products. Product quality is mostly determined by a group of measurable criteria. Therefore, for each criterion applies separate control chart as a basic tool for quality management. The contribution addresses the issue of how to design a multi-dimensional modification of the classical Shewhart control chart for the needs of multi-criteria statistical quality control. This is a proposal for construction of n-dimensional control chart based on the classical Shewhart control chart for the regulation by measuring. This proposal is based on a geometric interpretation of the control chart algorithm, at what is used the metric of Euclidean real vector space En. Attention in the work is devoted to defined geometrical structures of space used and possibilities how to use them. It is also remitted to the visualization possibilities of process variability development in two- or three-dimensional representation.

In this paper there is presented a possibility to estimate, with a sufficient accuracy, contact forces on idler rollers of hexagonal idler housing in case of the pipe conveyor belt. This prediction is based on values of tension forces that are measured experimentally. The calculated regressive models are able to predict contact forces in individual positions of idler rollers with suitable correctness. The measurements of tension forces were carried out on a static model of a pipe conveyor. This static model is able to simulate real operational conditions of idler rollers, which guide the conveyor belt. In this way it is very simply possible to determine contact force values in the individual positions of idler rollers. Information about contact forces is useful for designers and for users of the conveyor belts, as well.

Within the research, quality of control drilling vibrations for drilling of rocks was recorded. Prior to the determination research, it is necessary to verify hypotheses about the data, which states that data are from the same population for each type of rock. The paper deals with the possibilities of solving tasks with regard to the nature of the data measured. the R statistic software was used. The paper presents the algorithm and the verification results for four types of rock.

The process of separation of rock massif by rotary drilling belongs to the most frequently used geotechnologies. Since their energy costs are significant, it makes sense to pay sufficient consideration to the subject of efficient mode of drilling. Only an efficient drilling mode can guarantee the overall quality of this process. This contribution builds upon previous works of the authors in the area of utilization of abstract Hilbert spaces in control of specific processes. In this paper, some possibilities and aspects of visualization of concurrent vibrations in respect to efficient control of drilling are pointed out. In the contribution are processed some data obtained at the experimental drilling stand of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

The paper presents verification of the effect of emitted tension force of conveyor belt to the size of contact forces which are induced by the closed conveyor belt on the guide idlers in the hexagonal idler housing of pipe conveyor. The conveyor belt is an object with action of tension force and at the same time it takes the initiative in the contact force formation. The concept of the test equipment at the Technical University of Košice is designed so that it represents the section of pipe conveyor in which the conveyor belt is transformed to the pipe form. The measured data are presented by usual descriptive statistic characteristics and compared by nonparametric statistical methods. For comparision of position and tension force Nonparametric Friedman test and Shapiro–Wilk Normality Test were used.
