Without a doubt, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on global tourism for at least two reasons: (1) imposed systematic travel restrictions that discourage people from traveling even though they would like to; and (2) increased travel anxiety due to the perceived risk of the COVID-19 virus, causing people to change their typical travel behavior. This study aims to explore the role of Covid-19 in shaping future travel behavior. More specifically, following the general model of vacation behavior and the role of risk in travel behavior, we investigate how COVID-19 influences travelers’ perceptions of risk and how this affects planned vacation behavior. The results show that COVID-19 risk perception per se influences typical forms of vacation behavior, but this risk also leads to the development of travel anxiety, which additionally influences only some forms of vacation behavior. Empirical findings show that general anxiety, which is not associated with Covid-19 risk perception, also predicts some forms of planned changes in vacation behaviour. The study concludes with recommendations on how to reduce traveler uncertainty in order to recover international leisure travel.

Events organized to promote the cultural values of destinations increase tourism diversity and activities. Over 2000 different events are organized annually in Serbia, and music festivals are the most visited. One of them is EXIT festival. The EXIT festival is one of the biggest cultural and social projects running in Serbia based on the concept of modern European festivals. For the past eighteen years, Novi Sad has been hosting one of the largest, or even the largest international event in Serbia, which has attracted over 200,000 visitors, half of whom are foreign visitors. This study explored the relationships between the perceived quality of festival performance and experience factors (traffic and information, hygiene and safety, culture and art, socialization, infrastructure and products and services), behavioral intention and the overall visitor’s satisfaction intending to test a mediating role of the overall visitor’s satisfaction. For this purpose, data were collected from a sample of 557 EXIT festival visitors in Novi Sad in July 2016.

The aim of this study was to illustrate the importance of major sports events, such as marathons, and their economic impact on hotel performance during these unpredictable times for the events and tourism industry. The analysis was focused on the economic impact of the marathon event on hotel performance in the area hosting the race. For that purpose, we selected the Vienna City Marathon, held yearly in April, as a case. We hypothesized that there will be a higher impact of hotel performance a day prior to the marathon in regard to the hotel performance in multiple nonmarathon occasions. As indicators for hotel performance we have chosen hotel occupancy, revenue per available room, average daily rate and total revenue recorded for: day (always Saturday) prior to the marathon, year average, April average and average Saturday in April. Results from this study revealed significant effects of a marathon on three major hotel performance indicators (i.e., hotel occupancy, revenue per available room and total revenue). Findings from this study could serve the local government or event planners after the current crisis to justify financial investments in hosting a marathon or similar sports events for restarting tourism.

Organizational culture has a strong influence on the management of the organization because cultural patterns are at the core of all human behavior and actions. The aim of this paper is to determine the character of the dominant models of organizational culture in the tourism and hospitality sector of Montenegro. In this study, a field survey questionnaire was used, among employees of hotels, restaurants and travel agencies in Montenegro. In this study, we examined specifically how the characteristics of the company affect the perception of its organizational culture. Furthermore, in this study we also examined how the characteristics of respondents affect the perception of organizational culture. Research hypotheses were tested with CHAID analysis, using IBM SPSS Statistics 26. Results show that the largest number of hotel and catering companies in Montenegro have an organizational culture of the clan and the second most represented culture is the culture of hierarchy. The main finding from the conducted research is the fact that the perception of the dominant type of organizational structure is significantly influenced by the type of tourist company and geographic distribution. The obtained results show that in hotels in the southern part of Montenegro, hierarchy culture is predominant, while in restaurants and travel agencies in central and northern regions it is the clan culture that dominates. The practical contribution implication of the study is in creating knowledge that can be used by managers of tourism companies in Montenegro to create a corporate strategy, recognizing that organizational culture has become an important aspect for senior management, i.e., managing the company and its development.

Sport tourism includes both tourists who travel for the purpose of participating or observing competitive sports, and those active in leisure or adventure activities. This paper will examine the main reasons of sporting event spectators to visit Municipality of Koper, Slovenia through surveying those attending a major sporting event EuroBasket 2013. We have achieved this by gathering quantitative data via 326 questionnaires from international and domestic sport event tourism spectators who attended EuroBasket 2013 event in Municipality of Koper, Slovenia from 4th – 9th of September 2013. On the basis of the results of the survey it was found out that the reasons to visit the destination during the organization of EuroBasket 2013 are influenced by the country of residence of spectators and the age of respondents. The main results found from the study were that older tourist and those coming from non-neighbouring countries are more likely to visit the country organising a major event than younger tourists coming from neighbouring countries. The results of the research will somehow help regional and national tourism planners and event organizers when organizing future development of sporting events and the strategic planning of tourism products for different segments of sport event tourists in the region.
