Mikako Fujita is a professor and head of the Medicinal and Biological Chemistry Science Farm Joint Research Laboratory at Kumamoto University, Japan. She obtained her Ph.D. from Kyoto University in 1996. She has extensive experience in the development of anti-HIV-1 chemotherapeutic agents. She also has many publications on a better understanding of the roles of HIV-1 and HIV-2 accessory proteins and host restriction factors. Furthermore, now her research group is focusing on the discovery of anticancer and anti-fibrosis agents.
