In this paper, the challenges inherent in the development of a decarbonized transportation system are thoroughly examined. Sustainable transportation practices that can contribute to the limitation of greenhouse gas emissions and overall sustainability are identified. Furthermore, the most effective and innovative research avenues being pursued by the research community to enhance transportation sustainability are reviewed and discussed. The review framework has been designed to facilitate the identification of key areas of interest through the implementation of a systematic literature review approach. Firstly, an in-depth analysis is provided concerning the main barriers encountered in the realization of sustainable transportation. These barriers are categorized into five dimensions, namely regulatory, technological, financial, organizational, and social. Subsequently, attention is directed towards the emerging approaches that actively support the implementation of sustainable transportation. Lastly, the primary policy measures intended to promote sustainable mobility are the subject of discussion. The findings unveiled in this paper possess the potential to provide managers and policy makers with a comprehensive understanding of transportation sustainability issues. Furthermore, they carry practical implications that can contribute to the construction of sustainable transportation systems.

In recent years, the transition to a more sustainable and clean system has focused on the accelerated development of renewable energy technologies. This transition can be perceived as a major priority, especially with the current environmental concerns, threatening various aspects of human life. The objective of this article is, therefore, to highlight the role of the supply chain in the renewable power generation sector. In this context, a detailed assessment of the supply chain contribution to the renewable energy sector is presented. Next, the performance of the renewable energy supply chain is qualitatively evaluated by illustrating the various barriers against continuing development, and the key measures are recommended to overcome these barriers. Then, the main factors influencing the performance of the supply chain are identified and key performance indicators related to the renewable energy supply chain are established to achieve high efficiency and sustainability performances in the power sector.

The transport sector is one of the main contributors to global CO2 emissions and the transport sector in the Kingdom of Morocco is no exception. To combat this, two important agreements aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions were created, the Paris Agreement and the Nationally Determined Contributions. The adoption of battery electric vehicles is one way of helping to reduce transport-related emissions. However, there are several barriers to the adoption of battery electric vehicles in Morocco. The objective of this paper is to identify these barriers and to propose solutions to overcome them based on a survey of 209 responses that were analyzed using the Smart-PLS 4 approach. The study found that the financial attributes, maintenance, design, social reinforcement, and lack of incentives related to battery electric vehicles are the most significant factors that could cause the hindrance of the adoption of battery electric vehicles. Therefore, more affordable and attractive battery electric vehicles should be made more accessible. Moreover, increased technical training facilities should be mobilized to boost further efforts and increase experience in the field of BEV maintenance in Morocco. By implementing these solutions, Morocco can increase the uptake of battery electric vehicles and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. This will help Morocco reach its Nationally Determined Contributions and protect the environment as well as the health of its population.

Public transportation in cities is negatively affected by reliance on petroleum-based fuels, leading to emissions and poor air quality. Although the environmental evaluation of alternative buses in terms of sustainability has been extensively studied, the social dimensions have not received as much attention. In this regard, this research examines the social implications of alternative urban buses through life cycle impact assessment (LCIA) methods, including Eco-Indicator 99, Impact 2002+, and ReCiPe Endpoint. The results indicate that diesel buses significantly impact health, while hybrid, fuel cell, and electric buses can decrease emissions by 50%. These results underscore the necessity of zero-emission technologies to enhance urban air quality and promote better public health.
