Due to the increasingly high proportion of manual activities in production processes, there is a constant risk of musculoskeletal disorders or work-related injuries. The risk of these problems is exacerbated by the trend towards an ageing working population. European legislation is pressing for improved working conditions to eliminate the risks associated with health problems for workers. For this reason, the application of ergonomics in this field is growing. Musculoskeletal disorders, which are most often caused by inappropriate working postures, are a major problem. There are many methods for evaluating working postures. However, there is a high degree of subjectivity in the risk assessment. Motion capture kinematic suits can ensure the objectivity of the assessment. This article discusses research on ergonomics assessment using motion capture technology. A systematic literature search method was used for the research, beginning with the determination of the research procedure, through the definition of the research queries, to the formulation of the research itself to identify relevant sources. The study presents the most widely used methods for assessing the ergonomics of work positions using motion capture technology, their advantages, and disadvantages. It also follows the trend in the number of publications between 2010 and 2022 in countries where the topic is most frequently addressed and in the industries where motion capture technology is used for ergonomics assessment in general. The research showed that this approach is most often used in industry and logistics, and less frequently in healthcare and sport. The authors agree that the most frequently used ergonomics assessment methods are not complex enough to be used in combination with motion capture and that a combination of the two is needed. At the same time, this technology has become very important in the field of ergonomic evaluation of work positions, offering a higher degree of objectivity, or can be combined with the use of virtual reality, but the evaluation systems are still not error-free and there is a need for continuous improvement.

The primary purpose of this article is to present a maturity model dealing with environmental manufacturing processes in a company. According to some authors, Industry 4.0 is based on characteristics that have already been the focus of “lean and green” concepts. The goal of the article was to move from resource consumption, pollutant emissions, and more extensive manufacturing towards environmentally responsible manufacturing (ERM). Using environmental materials and methods reduces energy consumption, which generates cost savings and higher profits. Here, value stream mapping (VSM) was applied to identify core processes with environmental potential. This paper provides an understanding of the role of environmental manufacturing in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Nowadays science is characterized by a phenomenon that has become the link. This trend is digitalization. Ergonomics has also not avoided this trend. The results of these trends are software tools, which include sophisticated digital human models and the latest ergonomic methods. Each instrument has its strengths and weaknesses. Therefore it is not only important to control the software, but also to be able to interpret and apply their outputs. This paper discusses a specific case study of a production workplace model. This model was evaluated with the help of digital human models by means of two software packages (Tecnomatix Jack and Delmia) and theirs ergonomic analysis. Three analyses focused on carrying conditions, lifting and lowering conditions and finally biomechanical conditions were performed. The results from these analyses from both software were compared and eventual differences are explained

Industry 4.0 integrates modern technologies into independently functioning units and fundamentally changes established production and non-production processes. Industry 4.0 is also used in the field of logistics with the introduction of automation, robotics or modern warehouse systems with a key element of digitisation. Development based on these principles presents huge challenges for the logistics sector as well as opportunities for further growth. Because the field of logistics is very large, it is important to be more specific. Internal logistics is a very important part of production processes; areas such as storage and supply of production lines with input materials are some of the key processes in a company. The implementation of Industry 4.0 principles is specific and, for many companies, demanding technologically, organisationally and financially. Therefore, companies must know their current level of logistics processes and evaluate the readiness of these elements for automation and digitisation. The company’s management should create a strategy which evaluates internal logistics processes for Industry 4.0. Company readiness will be evaluated on the basis of the tools (methodology) presented in the article. An objective assessment with a multi-level system is needed, and therefore internal logistics is structured into sub-areas. The implementation of this innovative method of evaluation in the industrial environment and a description of the tool development process will also be presented. As these are extensive issues, the initial sections cover the theoretical background of the topics that justify the need and novelty of this tool.
