Cloud Computing is the dynamic provisioning of resources to provide services to end-users over the internet. The realization of cloud computing requires addressing several challenges, such as resource discovery, security, scheduling, and load balancing. Among these research issues, load balancing is the most challenging one. Therefore, in the past few years, research into various static and dynamic algorithms to achieve optimal results is gaining importance. This research proposes Swarm Intelligence (SI) as a load-balancing solution for cloud computing. Several alternatives in the literature (like genetic algorithm, ACO, PSO, BAT, GWO and many others) are investigated, but none consider the load balancing convergence time with global optimization. Among these algorithms, this research emphasizes Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and GreyWolf Optimization (GWO). A combined approach of GWO-PSO that capitalizes on the benefits of fast convergence and global optimization is proposed in this paper. These two techniques enhance system efficiency and resource allocation, working together to solve the load-balancing challenge. Compared to other traditional approaches, the findings of this research are promising while achieving globally optimized fast convergence and reducing overall response time. On average, the overall response time of the proposed technique is reduced to 12% as compared to other algorithms. Furthermore, the best optimal value obtained from the objective function of the proposed GWO-PSO algorithm improves PSO to 97.253% in terms of convergence.

Forecasting rainfall is crucial to the well-being of individuals and is significant everywhere in the world. It contributes to reducing the disastrous effects of floods on agriculture, human life, and socioeconomic systems. This study discusses the challenges of effectively forecasting rainfall and floods and the necessity of combining data with flood channel mathematical modelling to forecast floodwater levels and velocities. This research focuses on leveraging historical meteorological data to find trends using machine learning and deep learning approaches to estimate rainfall. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department provided the data for the study, which also uses eight machine learning algorithms. The performance of the machine learning models is examined using evaluation measures like the R2 score, root mean squared error and validation loss. According to this research’s findings, polynomial regression, random forest regression, and long short-term memory (LSTM) had the highest performance levels. Random forest and polynomial regression have an R2 value of 0.76, while LSTM has a loss value of 0.09, respectively.

The amount of data captured is expanding day by day which leads to the need for a monitoring system that helps in decision making. Current technologies such as cloud, machine learning (ML) and Internet of Things (IoT) provide a better solution for monitoring automation systems efficiently. In this paper, a prediction model that monitors real-time data of sensor nodes in a clinical environment using a machine learning algorithm is proposed. An IoT-based smart hospital environment has been developed that controls and monitors appliances over the Internet using different sensors such as current sensors, a temperature and humidity sensor, air quality sensor, ultrasonic sensor and flame sensor. The IoT-generated sensor data have three important characteristics, namely, real-time, structured and enormous amount. The main purpose of this research is to predict early faults in an IoT environment in order to ensure the integrity, accuracy, reliability and fidelity of IoT-enabled devices. The proposed fault prediction model was evaluated via decision tree, K-nearest neighbor, Gaussian naive Bayes and random forest techniques, but random forest showed the best accuracy over others on the provided dataset. The results proved that the ML techniques applied over IoT-based sensors are well efficient to monitor this hospital automation process, and random forest was considered the best with the highest accuracy of 94.25%. The proposed model could be helpful for the user to make a decision regarding the recommended solution and control unanticipated losses generated due to faults during the automation process.

Cloud computing offers flexible, interactive, and observable access to shared resources on the Internet. It frees users from the requirements of managing computing on their hardware. It enables users to not only store their data and computing over the internet but also can access it whenever and wherever it is required. The frequent use of smart devices has helped cloud computing to realize the need for its rapid growth. As more users are adapting to the cloud environment, the focus has been placed on load balancing. Load balancing allocates tasks or resources to different devices. In cloud computing, and load balancing has played a major role in the efficient usage of resources for the highest performance. This requirement results in the development of algorithms that can optimally assign resources while managing load and improving quality of service (QoS). This paper provides a survey of load balancing algorithms inspired by swarm intelligence (SI). The algorithms considered in the discussion are Genetic Algorithm, BAT Algorithm, Ant Colony, Grey Wolf, Artificial Bee Colony, Particle Swarm, Whale, Social Spider, Dragonfly, and Raven roosting Optimization. An analysis of the main objectives, area of applications, and targeted issues of each algorithm (with advancements) is presented. In addition, performance analysis has been performed based on average response time, data center processing time, and other quality parameters.

The segmentation of lungs from medical images is a critical step in the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases. Deep learning techniques have shown great promise in automating this task, eliminating the need for manual annotation by radiologists. In this research, a convolution neural network architecture is proposed for lung segmentation using chest X-ray images. In the proposed model, concatenate block is embedded to learn a series of filters or features used to extract meaningful information from the image. Moreover, a transpose layer is employed in the concatenate block to improve the spatial resolution of feature maps generated by a prior convolutional layer. The proposed model is trained using k-fold validation as it is a powerful and flexible tool for evaluating the performance of deep learning models. The proposed model is evaluated on five different subsets of the data by taking the value of k as 5 to obtain the optimized model to obtain more accurate results. The performance of the proposed model is analyzed for different hyper-parameters such as the batch size as 32, optimizer as Adam and 40 epochs. The dataset used for the segmentation of disease is taken from the Kaggle repository. The various performance parameters such as accuracy, IoU, and dice coefficient are calculated, and the values obtained are 0.97, 0.93, and 0.96, respectively.
