Forecasting rainfall is crucial to the well-being of individuals and is significant everywhere in the world. It contributes to reducing the disastrous effects of floods on agriculture, human life, and socioeconomic systems. This study discusses the challenges of effectively forecasting rainfall and floods and the necessity of combining data with flood channel mathematical modelling to forecast floodwater levels and velocities. This research focuses on leveraging historical meteorological data to find trends using machine learning and deep learning approaches to estimate rainfall. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department provided the data for the study, which also uses eight machine learning algorithms. The performance of the machine learning models is examined using evaluation measures like the R2 score, root mean squared error and validation loss. According to this research’s findings, polynomial regression, random forest regression, and long short-term memory (LSTM) had the highest performance levels. Random forest and polynomial regression have an R2 value of 0.76, while LSTM has a loss value of 0.09, respectively.

The classification of whole slide images (WSIs) provides physicians with an accurate analysis of diseases and also helps them to treat patients effectively. The classification can be linked to further detailed analysis and diagnosis. Deep learning (DL) has made significant advances in the medical industry, including the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, computerized tomography (CT) scans, and electrocardiograms (ECGs) to detect life-threatening diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and brain tumors. However, more advancement in the field of pathology is needed, but the main hurdle causing the slow progress is the shortage of large-labeled datasets of histopathology images to train the models. The Kimia Path24 dataset was particularly created for the classification and retrieval of histopathology images. It contains 23,916 histopathology patches with 24 tissue texture classes. A transfer learning-based framework is proposed and evaluated on two famous DL models, Inception-V3 and VGG-16. To improve the productivity of Inception-V3 and VGG-16, we used their pre-trained weights and concatenated these with an image vector, which is used as input for the training of the same architecture. Experiments show that the proposed innovation improves the accuracy of both famous models. The patch-to-scan accuracy of VGG-16 is improved from 0.65 to 0.77, and for the Inception-V3, it is improved from 0.74 to 0.79.

Recent advancements in the Internet of Things IoT and cloud computing have paved the way for mobile Healthcare (mHealthcare) services. A patient within the hospital is monitored by several devices. Moreover, upon leaving the hospital, the patient can be remotely monitored whether directly using body wearable sensors or using a smartphone equipped with sensors to monitor different user-health parameters. This raises potential challenges for intelligent monitoring of patient’s health. In this paper, an improved architecture for smart mHealthcare is proposed that is supported by HCI design principles. The HCI also provides the support for the User-Centric Design (UCD) for smart mHealthcare models. Furthermore, the HCI along with IoT`s (Internet of Things) 5-layered architecture has the potential of improving User Experience (UX) in mHealthcare design and help saving lives. The intelligent mHealthcare system is supported by the IoT sensing and communication layers and health care providers are supported by the application layer for the medical, behavioral, and health-related information. Health care providers and users are further supported by an intelligent layer performing critical situation assessment and performing a multi-modal communication using an intelligent assistant. The HCI design focuses on the ease-of-use, including user experience and safety, alarms, and error-resistant displays of the end-user, and improves user’s experience and user satisfaction.

Cloud computing is a well-known technology that provides flexible, efficient, and cost-effective information technology solutions for multinationals to offer improved and enhanced quality of business services to end-users. The cloud computing paradigm is instigated from grid and parallel computing models as it uses virtualization, server consolidation, utility computing, and other computing technologies and models for providing better information technology solutions for large-scale computational data centers. The recent intensifying computational demands from multinationals enterprises have motivated the magnification for large complicated cloud data centers to handle business, monetary, Internet, and commercial applications of different enterprises. A cloud data center encompasses thousands of millions of physical server machines arranged in racks along with network, storage, and other equipment that entails an extensive amount of power to process different processes and amenities required by business firms to run their business applications. This data center infrastructure leads to different challenges like enormous power consumption, underutilization of installed equipment especially physical server machines, CO2 emission causing global warming, and so on. In this article, we highlight the data center issues in the context of Pakistan where the data center industry is facing huge power deficits and shortcomings to fulfill the power demands to provide data and operational services to business enterprises. The research investigates these challenges and provides solutions to reduce the number of installed physical server machines and their related device equipment. In this article, we proposed server consolidation technique to increase the utilization of already existing server machines and their workloads by migrating them to virtual server machines to implement green energy-efficient cloud data centers. To achieve this objective, we also introduced a novel Virtualized Task Scheduling Algorithm to manage and properly distribute the physical server machine workloads onto virtual server machines. The results are generated from a case study performed in Pakistan where the proposed server consolidation technique and virtualized task scheduling algorithm are applied on a tier-level data center. The results obtained from the case study demonstrate that there are annual power savings of 23,600 W and overall cost savings of US$78,362. The results also highlight that the utilization ratio of already existing physical server machines has increased to 30% compared to 10%, whereas the number of server machines has reduced to 50% contributing enormously toward huge power savings.
