Dr. Francis Marco Maria Cirianni

Francis Cirianni earned a Degree in Civil Engineering (five-year course), discussing an experimental thesis in transport, and a Ph.D. in Transport Engineering, both at the University of Reggio Calabria, Italy. He is a registered professional Civil Engineer in Italy, having passed the state exam to practice the profession of Civil Engineer, and a Transport Planner. Francis has been with the Department of Transport of the University of Reggio Calabria since 1993, and as a senior research fellow, has taken part in research programs to study the control of road traffic-related issues, which include Public Transport Planning and traffic-related pollution monitoring and modelling. He teaches courses in Transport Planning and Road Design, has directed an independent engineering consultancy, has extensive experience in engineering, in the design of transport infrastructures, and transport planning, and has worked for public institutions and private companies, such as local councils and regional and national government. He is the author of many technical and scientific papers and journal articles covering public transport, pollution, logistics, and traffic engineering. He is a Fellow of the Order of Engineers in the province of Reggio Calabria (the professional body in Italy), a member of the Italian Association of Transport and Traffic Engineering (AIIT), the Transport Planning Society (TPS), and the Association for European Transport (AET).
