Outage probability (OP) and potential throughput (PT) of multihop full-duplex (FD) nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems are addressed in the present paper. More precisely, two metrics are derived in the closed-form expressions under the impact of both imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC) and imperfect self-interference cancellation. Moreover, to model short transmission distance from the transmit and receive antennae at relays, the near-field path-loss is taken into consideration. Additionally, the impact of the total transmit power on the performance of these metrics is rigorously derived. Furthermore, the mathematical framework of the baseline systems is provided too. Computer-based simulations via the Monte Carlo method are given to verify the accuracy of the proposed framework, confirm our findings, and highlight the benefits of the proposed systems compared with the baseline one.

In this paper, we investigate the performance of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)-based full-duplex Internet-of-Things (IoT) relay systems with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) over Nakagami-m fading channels to improve the performance of a cell-edge user under perfect and imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC). Two scenarios, i.e., direct and non-direct links, between the source node and cell-edge user are examined. The exact closed-form analytical and approximate expressions for the outage probability, system throughput, energy efficiency, and ergodic capacities are derived and validated via Monte Carlo simulations to characterize the proposed system performance. To further improve the system performance, we also provide a low-complexity algorithm to maximize the system throughput over-optimizing the time-switching factor. The results show that our proposed NOMA system can achieve superior performance compared to its orthogonal multiple access (OMA) counterpart under perfect SIC and with a low-to-medium signal-to-noise ratio under imperfect SIC, according to the level of residual self-interference and the quality of links.

This paper investigates a cooperative short-packet non-orthogonal multiple access-based relay-sharing system, in which a common relay node assists the communication of two source-destination pairs. Aiming at reducing relay complexity design and transmission latency, a novel relaying protocol, which is composed of fewer encoders and decoders than decode-and-forward (DF) relaying protocol, is proposed. Accordingly, approximate and asymptotic expressions for the end-to-end average block error rates (BLERs) are derived, and numerical results show the superior BLER performance of the proposed protocol over the conventional DF, amplify-and-forward, and orthogonal multiple access ones.

We evaluate a downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)-enable UAV-aided communication system to address the demand of spectrum usage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In this paper, multiple NOMA users are served by an UAV to improve the effective spectrum usage. Over Nakagami- $m$ fading model, the performance of the system was investigated based on the analysis of outage probabilities (OPs) of the NOMA users, the ergodic rate, and symbol error rate of the system under two scenarios, i.e., perfect successive interference cancellation (pSIC) and imperfect successive interference cancellation (ipSIC). Additionally, the effects of the system parameters such as the transmit power and altitude of the UAV, the coefficients of channel model on the system performance were studied. The results demonstrate that the performance of the NOMA-based system is better compared with that of the conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA)-based system in terms of OP, throughput and ergodic rate. Considering outage probabilities at the users, the system in the ipSIC case achieves the same performance as the pSIC case at a low transmit power of the UAV. In addition, an increase in the height of the UAV decreases the ergodic capacity of each user.

The performance of the satellite-terrestrial network with Fountain codes (FCs) is conducted in the present work. More precisely, the air-to-ground link is modeled according to the shadow-Rician distribution to capture the strong light-of-sight (LOS) path as well as the impact of the shadowing. As a result, we employ the directional beamforming at both the satellite and relay to mitigate such an ultra-long transmission distance. We investigate the trade-off between the reliability and security aspects. Particularly, we derive the outage probability (OP) and intercept probability (IP) in the closed-form expressions. To further facilitate the security of the considered networks, the friendly jamming scheme is deployed as well. Finally, simulation results based on the Monte-Carlo method are given to corroborate the exactness of the developed mathematical framework and to identify key parameters such as antenna gain, and transmit power that have a big impact on the considered networks.

Internet of Things (IoT) systems cooperative with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been put into use for more than ten years, from transportation to military surveillance, and they have been shown to be worthy of inclusion in the next wireless protocols. Therefore, this paper studies user clustering and the fixed power allocation approach by placing multi-antenna UAV-mounted relays for extended coverage areas and achieving improved performance for IoT devices. In particular, the system enables UAV-mounted relays with multiple antennas together with non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) to provide a potential way to enhance transmission reliability. We presented two cases of multi-antenna UAVs such as maximum ratio transmission and the best selection to highlight the benefits of the antenna-selections approach with low-cost design. In addition, the base station managed its IoT devices in practical scenarios with and without direct links. For two cases, we derive closed-form expressions of outage probability (OP) and closed-form approximation ergodic capacity (EC) generated for both devices in the main scenario. The outage and ergodic capacity performances in some scenarios are compared to confirm the benefits of the considered system. The number of antennas was found to have a crucial impact on the performances. The simulation results show that the OP for both users strongly decreases when the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), number of antennas, and fading severity factor of Nakagami-m fading increase. The proposed scheme outperforms the orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme in outage performance for two users. The analytical results match Monte Carlo simulations to confirm the exactness of the derived expressions.
