(1) Background: An ideal bond strength between endodontic posts and root canal dentin is essential for optimal retention and good prognosis. This study aimed to evaluate the push-out bond strength (PBS) of prefabricated fiber and metal posts, luted with resin cement to natural dentin. (2) Methods: Extracted premolars with similar root dimensions were assigned into two groups of 30 each for the metal and fiber posts. Teeth were mounted in acrylic blocks exposing 2 mm of the coronal root. Teeth were subjected to endodontic treatment and post-space preparations. Two groups were further subdivided into three sub-groups (n = 10) according to the size of the posts (# 4, 5 and 6). Posts were cemented with resin cement. Specimens were sectioned into 4 mm slices and subjected to the PBS test. (3) Results: The mean PBS was similar for the metal and fiber posts bonded with resin cement, showing a statistically significant result. An increase in post size increased the bond strength initially, but a further increase in size did not show any marked difference. A total of 71.66% of tested specimens failed with the adhesive failure mode. (4) Conclusions: Metal posts showed slightly higher retention compared to the fiber posts, although the p-value was similar for both types. An increase in the size of posts showed increased retention. The most common mode of failure was adhesive failure between cement and dentin.

The possibility of platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) on the improvement of bone and adjacent tissue recovery has previously been validated. However, there is insufficient data supporting the use of platelet‐rich plasma to improve the healing of bone and adjacent tissues around an implant in the oral cavity. The purpose of this randomized controlled trial was to observe the effect of platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) concentrate on marginal bone loss and bone density around immediate implant placement using Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT). This clinical study was conducted over a period of six months on 12 subjects, who were equally categorized into two groups. Group I was the control, whereas the subjects in Group II received PRP therapy at the surgical site. All subjects were given a standard treatment with a single implant system (DIO UFII hybrid sandblasted acid‐etched implants). Inserted implants were analyzed through CBCT, and records were registered at baseline, at the 12th week before functional loading and the 26th week after functional loading. The bone loss was calculated at the proximal (mesial and distal) side of the implant and bone density at baseline, 12th week, and 26th week after implant placement. SPSS version 23.0 was used for statistical analysis of data. The changes in bone levels were measured and compared between the two groups using the Mann–Whitney U test, with no significant difference. Bone density was analyzed by an independent sample t‐test, p value ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Again, no significant difference in bone density was observed between both groups at all three instances. Therefore, it can be concluded that local injection of PRP after immediate implant placement did not show any decrease in marginal bone loss or improvement in bone density. This trial is registered with NCT04650763.

Background. You Tube is one of the most commonly used online sources for sharing information and knowledge. Academic topics or clinical data shared on this platform is not peer reviewed or evaluated by subject specialists for accuracy. No study was found in the literature examining the validity of crown preparation videos available at this platform. Objective. To evaluate the authenticity of the content and quality of the crown preparation videos uploaded on the YouTube. Methods. The systematic search for YouTube videos was carried out over a period of one year from January 2020 until February 2021. The keywords or phrases and tags used were crown preparation, PFM crown preparation, all ceramic crown preparation, and dental crown preparation. The videos were shortlisted on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria to select educationally useful videos in terms of content and quality. Results. Three subject specialists evaluated the videos on crown preparation three times to shortlist only 12 (11%) educationally useful videos out of 109 relevant videos. These 12 videos met the preset inclusion criteria. Conclusion. Although YouTube is the most popular social media platform used as the source of information by the students, the majority of uploaded content lacks authenticity. This study found that crown preparation videos uploaded by the faculty members or subject specialists can be considered as the reliable source.

Objective: The aim of the present in vitro study was to explore the differences in color matching of most frequently used shades for metal ceramic dental restorations fabricated by different laboratories. Materials and Methods: A total sample size of 180 discs of metal ceramic were prepared by six laboratories (labs): each lab prepared 30 samples, 10 for each shade (A1, B1, and C1). Instructions for standardization were provided. A spectrophotometer and CIE LAB system was used to find ΔE value for difference between shades observed by spectrophotometer. For statistical analysis, ANOVA and post hoc Tukey tests were used. Significance level was <0.05. Results: Significant variation (p = 0.000) was observed among the labs for ΔE. The maximum value for ΔE in shade A1 was 77.0 ± 0.065 and minimum value for ΔE noted for shade A1 was 69.19 ± 1.39. The values of ΔE for shade B1 were maximum 80.14 ± 0.16 and minimum 68.38 ± 0.40 and the values of ΔE for shade C1 were maximum 80.16 ± 0.14 and minimum 71.62 ± 1.23. Twelve out of 15 comparisons between labs for shade A1, 14 of 15 comparisons for shade B1, and 11 of 15 comparisons for shade C1 showed significant difference (p = 0.000). Conclusions: Similar tooth shades (A1, B1, and C1) when duplicated by different labs exhibited highly significant color variations.

Background: Dentine sensitivity presents as short, sharp pain due to exposed dentine. To keep ourselves abreast with thechallenging situation of increasing prevalence of dentine sensitivity within the country, this research was conducted to devise a better management strategy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency and intensity of dentine sensitivity within patients reporting in Outpatient department (OPD) and to correlate good versus bad practices of dentine sensitivity patients with dentine sensitivity frequency. Methods: A questionnaire based cross sectional study was carried out in three dental institutes of Lahore, Pakistan over a period of four months. A sample size of 300 individuals was selected by non-probability convenient sampling technique. Information collected included demographic data, participant’s oral hygiene practices and intensity of dentine sensitivity in them. A numeric rating scale was used to record the degree of dentine sensitivity and descriptive statistics were presented as frequency and percentage. Results: 210 out of 300 patients reported dentine sensitivity (70%). Only 1/4th patients were highly qualified. 60% individuals were from low income group. 51% reported intensity as mild, 34% as moderate and 15% as severe sensitivity. Most common triggering factor was cold (36%). Good practices resulted in reduction in sensitivity. Conclusion: According to results, high frequency of dentine sensitivity is observed. More awareness needs to be created about factors leading to sensitivity focusing more on dietary patterns that cause erosive wear of enamel and reduction in aggressive brushing and parafunctional habits.

Ectodermal Dysplasia (ED) is an X-linked inherited disorder with male predominance. Female patients may show partial expression of Ectodermal Dysplasia. Significant findings include hypodontia, hyposalivation, protuberant lips, conical teeth and loss of vertical dimension. The alveolar ridge fails to develop properly. Thus it presents as a challenge to dental treatment. This paper presents a case of prosthodontic rehabilitation of an 8 years old girl having hypodontia associated with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia with removable partial denture in maxilla after temporary fixed prosthesis and complete denture in mandible to rehabilitate the patient for esthetics and function.
