Smart agricultural greenhouses provide well-controlled conditions for crop cultivation but require accurate prediction of environmental factors to ensure ideal crop growth and management efficiency. Due to the limitations of existing predictors in dealing with massive, nonlinear, and dynamic temporal data, this study proposes a bidirectional self-attentive encoder–decoder framework (BEDA) to construct the long-time predictor for multiple environmental factors with high nonlinearity and noise in a smart greenhouse. Firstly, the original data are denoised by wavelet threshold filter and pretreatment operations. Secondly, the bidirectional long short-term-memory is selected as the fundamental unit to extract time-serial features. Then, the multi-head self-attention mechanism is incorporated into the encoder–decoder framework to improve the prediction performance. Experimental investigations are conducted in a practical greenhouse to accurately predict indoor environmental factors (temperature, humidity, and CO2) from noisy IoT-based sensors. The best model for all datasets was the proposed BEDA method, with the root mean square error of three factors’ prediction reduced to 2.726, 3.621, and 49.817, and with an R of 0.749 for temperature, 0.848 for humidity, and 0.8711 for CO2 concentration, respectively. The experimental results show that the favorable prediction accuracy, robustness, and generalization of the proposed method make it suitable to more precisely manage greenhouses.

Aspect-level sentiment classification is a fine-grained task in sentiment analysis. In recent years, researchers have realized the importance of the relationship between aspect term and sentence and many classification models based on deep learning network have been proposed. However, these end-to-end deep neural network models lack flexibility and do not consider the sentiment word information in existing meth-ods. Therefore, we propose a lexicon-enhanced attention network (LEAN) based on bidirectional LSTM. LEAN not only can catch the sentiment words in a sentence but also concentrate on specific aspect infor-mation in a sentence. Moreover, leveraging lexicon information will enhance the model’s flexibility and ro-bustness. We experiment on the SemEval 2014 dataset and results find that our model achieves state-of-the-art performance on aspect-level sentiment classification.

With the increasing globalization of supply chains, ensuring food safety has become more complex, necessitating advanced approaches for risk assessment. This study aims to review the transformative role of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) in enabling intelligent food safety management by efficiently analyzing high-quality and nonlinear data. We systematically summarize recent advances in the application of ML and DL, focusing on key areas such as biotoxin detection, heavy metal contamination, analysis of pesticide and veterinary drug residues, and microbial risk prediction. While traditional algorithms including support vector machines and random forests demonstrate strong performance in classification and risk evaluation, unsupervised methods such as K-means and hierarchical cluster analysis facilitate pattern recognition in unlabeled datasets. Furthermore, novel DL architectures, such as convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, and transformers, enable automated feature extraction and multimodal data integration, substantially improving detection accuracy and efficiency. In conclusion, we recommend future work to emphasize model interpretability, multi-modal data fusion, and integration into HACCP systems, thereby supporting intelligent, interpretable, and real-time food safety management.

Grain processing products constitute an essential component of the human diet and are among the main sources of heavy metal intake. Therefore, a systematic assessment of risk factors and early-warning systems are vital to control heavy metal hazards in grain processing products. In this study, we established a risk assessment model to systematically analyze heavy metal hazards and combined the model with the K-means++ algorithm to perform risk level classification. We then employed deep learning models to conduct a multi-step prediction of risk levels, providing an early warning of food safety risks. By introducing a voting-ensemble technique, the accuracy of the prediction model was improved. The results indicated that the proposed model was superior to other models, exhibiting the overall accuracy of 90.47% in the 7-day prediction and thus satisfying the basic requirement of the food supervision department. This study provides a novel early-warning model for the systematic assessment of the risk level and further allows the development of targeted regulatory strategies to improve supervision efficiency.
