Diabetes is a widespread disease in the world and can lead to diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, and other obvious microvascular complications in the retina of the human eye. This study attempts to detect diabetic retinopathy (DR), which has been the main reason behind the blindness of people in the last decade. Timely or early treatment is necessary to prevent some DR complications and control blood glucose. DR is very difficult to detect in time-consuming manual diagnosis because of its diversity and complexity. This work utilizes a deep learning application, a convolutional neural network (CNN), in fundus photography to distinguish the stages of DR. The images dataset in this study is obtained from Xiangya No. 2 Hospital Ophthalmology (XHO), Changsha, China, which is very large, little and the labels are unbalanced. Thus, this study first solves the problem of the existing dataset by proposing a method that uses preprocessing, regularization, and augmentation steps to increase and prepare the image dataset of XHO for training and improve performance. Then, it takes the advantages of the power of CNN with different residual neural network (ResNet) structures, namely, ResNet-101, ResNet-50, and VggNet-16, to detect DR on XHO datasets. ResNet-101 achieved the maximum level of accuracy, 0.9888, with a training loss of 0.3499 and a testing loss of 0.9882. ResNet-101 is then assessed on 1787 photos from the HRF, STARE, DIARETDB0, and XHO databases, achieving an average accuracy of 0.97, which is greater than prior efforts. Results prove that the CNN model (ResNet-101) has better accuracy than ResNet-50 and VggNet-16 in DR image classification.

Lung cancer has emerged as a major cause of death among all demographics worldwide, largely caused by a proliferation of smoking habits. However, early detection and diagnosis of lung cancer through technological improvements can save the lives of millions of individuals affected globally. Computerized tomography (CT) scan imaging is a proven and popular technique in the medical field, but diagnosing cancer with only CT scans is a difficult task even for doctors and experts. This is why computer-assisted diagnosis has revolutionized disease diagnosis, especially cancer detection. This study looks at 20 CT scan images of lungs. In a preprocessing step, we chose the best filter to be applied to medical CT images between median, Gaussian, 2D convolution, and mean. From there, it was established that the median filter is the most appropriate. Next, we improved image contrast by applying adaptive histogram equalization. Finally, the preprocessed image with better quality is subjected to two optimization algorithms, fuzzy c-means and k-means clustering. The performance of these algorithms was then compared. Fuzzy c-means showed the highest accuracy of 98%. The feature was extracted using Gray Level Cooccurrence Matrix (GLCM). In classification, a comparison between three algorithms—bagging, gradient boosting, and ensemble (SVM, MLPNN, DT, logistic regression, and KNN)—was performed. Gradient boosting performed the best among these three, having an accuracy of 90.9%.

Manufacturing, one of the most valuable industries in the world, is boundlessly automatable yet still quite stuck in traditionally manual and slow processes. Industry 4.0 is racing to define a new era of digital manufacturing through Internet of Things‐ (IoT‐) connected machines and factory systems, fully comprehensive data gathering, and seamless implementation of data‐driven decision‐making and action taking. Both academia and industry understand the tremendous value in modernizing manufacturing and are pioneering bleeding‐edge strides every day to optimize one of the largest industries in the world. IoT production, functional testing, and fault detection equipment are already being used in today’s maturing smart factory paradigm to superintend intelligent manufacturing equipment and perform automated defect detection in order to enhance production quality and efficiency. This paper presents a powerful and precise computer vision model for automated classification of defect product from standard product. Human operators and inspectors without digital aid must spend inordinate amounts of time poring over visual data, especially in high volume production environments. Our model works quickly and accurately in sparing defective product from entering doomed operations that would otherwise incur waste in the form of wasted worker‐hours, tardy disposition, and field failure. We use a convolutional neural network (CNN) with the Visual Geometry Group with 16 layers (VGG16) architecture and train it on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) dataset with 3175 RBG images. The resultant trained model, assisted by finely tuned optimizers and learning rates, classifies defective product with 97.01% validating accuracy.

Recent improvements in current technology have had a significant impact on a wide range of image processing applications, including medical imaging. Classification, detection, and segmentation are all important aspects of medical imaging technology. An enormous need exists for the segmentation of diagnostic images, which can be applied to a wide variety of medical research applications. It is important to develop an effective segmentation technique based on deep learning algorithms for optimal identification of regions of interest and rapid segmentation. To cover this gap, a pipeline for image segmentation using traditional Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) as well as introduced Swarm Intelligence (SI) for optimal identification of the desired area has been proposed. Fuzzy C-means (FCM), K-means, and improvisation of FCM with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), improvisation of K-means with PSO, improvisation of FCM with CNN, and improvisation of K-means with CNN are the six modules examined and evaluated. Experiments are carried out on various types of images such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for brain data analysis, dermoscopic for skin, microscopic for blood leukemia, and computed tomography (CT) scan images for lungs. After combining all of the datasets, we have constructed five subsets of data, each of which had a different number of images: 50, 100, 500, 1000, and 2000. Each of the models was executed and trained on the selected subset of the datasets. From the experimental analysis, it is observed that the performance of K-means with CNN is better than others and achieved 96.45 segmentation accuracy with an average time of 9.09seconds.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology has already demonstrated its use. RFID is used in many productions for different applications, for example, apparatus chasing, personal and vehicle access panels, logistics, baggage, and safety items in departmental stores. The main benefits of RFID are optimizing resources, quality customer service, improved accuracy, and efficient business and healthcare procedures. In addition, RFID can help to recognize appropriate information and help advance the probability of objects for certain functions. Nevertheless, RFID components need to be studied for use in healthcare. Antennas, tags, and readers are the main components of RFID. The study of these elements provides an understanding of the usage and integration of these components in healthcare environments. The security of the patient is now a global alarm for public health, particularly among older people who need integrated and technologically integrated physiological health monitoring systems to monitor medical needs and manage them. This paper proposes using Internet of Things (IoT) and RFID tags as an effective healthcare monitoring system. In this method, we utilize RFID dual-band protocols that are useful for identifying individual persons and are used to monitor body information using high frequency. The patient’s physiological data are monitored and collected by sensors to recognize the patient, using an RFID tag. The IoT-based RFID healthcare provides the elderly and people with physiological information. The aim is also to secure patient health records using the signing algorithm based on the hyperelliptic curve (HEC) and to provide the physician with access to health information for patients. Furthermore, the confidentiality of the medical records for patients of variable length is provided. The evaluation reveals the algorithm proposed for optimum health care with different genus curves.

Deep phenotyping is defined as learning about genotype-phenotype associations and the history of human illness by analyzing phenotypic anomalies. It is significant to investigate the association between phenotype and genotype. Machine learning approaches are good at predicting the associations between abnormal human phenotypes and genes. A novel framework based on machine learning is proposed to estimate the links between human phenotype ontology (HPO) and genes. The Orphanet’s annotation parses the human phenotype-gene associations. An algorithm node2vec generates the embeddings for the nodes (HPO and genes). It performs node sampling on the graph using random walks and learns features on these sampled nodes for embedding. These embeddings were used downstream to predict the link between these nodes by supervised classifiers. Results show the gradient boosting decision tree model (LightGBM) has achieved an optimal AUROC of 0.904 and an AUCPR of 0.784, an optimal weighted F1 score of 0.87. LightGBM can detect more accurate interactions and links between human phenotypes and gene pairs.
