The Danube has a length of 588 km in the Republic of Serbia. The water transport on this river is underused. The hazardous events have a great impact on the traffic on this river, and the understanding of these events is of great importance. This study focuses on hazardous events on the Danube with the main focus on the port of Novi. The hazardous events used in this study are extreme air temperatures, devastating winds, drought, and heavy precipitation. The hazardous events were represented using geographic information systems (GIS), geostatistics, and numerical methods. The potential of the river transport network and the port capacity were analyzed and compared with the hazardous events of the last 30 years. The results showed that three areas of the port are of great importance for port security, and two areas are extremely affected by hazardous events. The distance of the port of Novi Sad from heavy precipitation events is 6.8 km in the southwestern direction. The periods of extremely low precipitation (climatic drought) were in 1994, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2019, and 2021. Extreme average maximum temperatures were in 1995, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2015, and 2019. On the other hand, minimum average temperatures were in 1994, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2017, and 2018, and the strongest winds were in 1995, 1998, 2003, 2009, 2012, and 2014. The methods and techniques of GIS, used in this research, have confirmed new potential geographical positions of the port that can be better adapted to future climate changes. Another main objective of this research is to recommend better spatial planning and construction of new green corridors.

With the current National Security Strategy, the Republic of Serbia has adopted the total defense concept to respond to the proclaimed military neutrality. The decision in question, among other things, affects the direction of the overall defense capability of the state and society as a whole. There are several fundamentally important issues in which a choice must be made. One of the essential questions is which tasks are best performed under the auspices of the Armed Forces and which should be assigned to civilian actors. In other words, a clear division of responsibilities between the civilian and Armed Forces involved in total defense is necessary. On the other hand, the Republic of Serbia has a negative legacy that dates back to the conflict on the territory of the former state, as well as certain decisions that contradict the decision to develop a total defense and confident decisions that have a direct impact on the adopted concept of national defense. The paper presents the possible content of the total defense of the Republic of Serbia through the analysis of the concept on the examples of individual countries. In this connection, it should be noted that the Defense Strategy of the Republic of Serbia had to expand the content of the total defense concept. This is necessary not only for a more complete understanding but also for the fact that the provisions of the Strategy are further operationalized through documents of lower generality.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) have major benefits for humankind, nevertheless they are perceived through their widespread use for military purposes with ethical reservations. However, the possibilities for non-military use of UAS are extensive: scientific research; disaster prevention and management; protection of critical infrastructure; homeland security; communications; and environmental protection. Media can have a significant role in promoting and explaining the use of UAS for civil purposes to the wider public. This paper explores perceptions of academics and professionals in various fields (security, environmental protection, STEM, etc.) of media reporting on UAS in general, UAS for military use, and UAS for civil use in the Republic of Serbia. The findings show that media are perceived as underutilized vehicles in promoting UAS for civil use and develop a model for media use in promoting UAS for civil purposes.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a key technological tool in national security, enabling significant improvements in data processing, threat analysis, and decision support. Its application to the security structures of the Republic of Serbia potentially contributes to greater efficiency and precision in preventing and detecting terrorist activities, organised crime, cyber-attacks, and other security threats. It gains particular significance in big data analysis, where it enables the identification of patterns and indicators of potential threats, thereby facilitating a proactive, timely response. Within special investigative measures - such as electronic surveillance, covert tracking, video surveillance, simulated transactions, controlled deliveries, and clandestine investigations - the application of AI can significantly increase efficiency and reduce operational risk. The paper analyses key areas of AI application in the context of national security, the technological and institutional challenges in its implementation, and the relevant ethical and legal aspects. The work aims to highlight the importance of integrating contemporary AI solutions into existing security systems and to contribute to the strategic planning of national security development in the digital age.

Discrimination against older adults is a reality in the Republic of Serbia and other countries on the European continent. Attitudes in developed societies are full of prejudices, and older people are victims of discrimination, especially women who are double discriminated against based on age and gender. State institutions often consider older adults a burden rather than an integral segment of the population that must be provided with adequate support. In patriarchal societies such as the one in Serbia, older adults rarely have the opportunity to express themselves on critical life issues, nor do they have the chance to make decisions. The healthcare system in the Republic of Serbia adapted relatively well to the public health crisis caused by the appearance of the unknown virus COVID-19. However, based on the experience during the pandemic, older people were still significantly more vulnerable than the rest. The already difficult situation of older adults has been further aggravated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Older adults' lives are undervalued, and the attitude towards them worsens in the family, society, and access to healthcare facilities and other services of interest to their survival. This paper's topic is analysing the condition of older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic.
