The Logarithm Methodology of Additive Weights (LMAW) method is a very young method and in its basic form is defined for crisp values. In this paper, the LMAW method was improved by being modified with triangular fuzzy numbers. The modification significantly improved the capacity of the LMAW method to consider uncertainty in decision making. The special importance of the method is reflected in a relatively simple mathematical apparatus due to which it is possible to define, with high quality, weight coefficients of criteria and rank alternative solutions in uncertain environments. The method was tested in solving the problem of the location selection for a landing operations point (LOP) in combat operations of the army. The validation of the obtained results was performed: (1) by means of comparison with the Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighting (FSAW) Method, the Fuzzy Multi-Attributive Border Approximation area Comparison (FMABAC), the fuzzy Višekriterijumsko KOmpromisno Rangiranje (FVIKOR), the fuzzy COmpressed PRoportional ASsessment (FCOPRAS), and the fuzzy Multi Attributive Ideal-Real Comparative Analysis (FMAIRCA); (2) by means of sensitivity analysis by changing the weight coefficients of criteria; and (3) using simulation software. In comparison with other methods, the quality of the ranking of alternative solutions was confirmed, which highlighted the special importance of the fuzzy LMAW method relative to that of certain standard methods, respectively, the ones that are often used and confirmed in practice. On the other hand, the sensitivity analysis, including the changing of the weight coefficients of criteria, showed that the model could tolerate smaller errors in defining the weight coefficients of criteria, and it provided stable results. Finally, the validation of results achieved with the use of simulation software confirmed the obtained output results. The output results confirmed the quality of the modified method.

The process of decision-making involves selecting the most suitable management action from a range of options, thereby guiding the system towards its management objectives. Within the complex decision-making environment, uncertainty prevails, giving rise to the domain of risk. Effective risk management entails various activities that are implemented during distinct phases of system management. To address this, a systemic approach to risk management is crucial, along with the adoption of software solutions for risk analysis. This study examines the systemic approach to risk management and proposes a potential solution for managing uncertainties and risks by employing software tools that are rooted in system quality. System quality encompasses the development of novel models, methods, tools, and procedures, whose consistent application ensures reliable outcomes based on the best available information. Consequently, this study explores the application of innovative software solutions that support the risk management process across all phases. Given that risk management relies on data, which may not offer a comprehensive view of the environment, decision-making can be regarded as a process of managing the conversion of data into information. The acquisition of new information regarding the system's state determines the approach to modify the system through the chosen decision. Information serves as the essence of the decision-making process, as quality information facilitates quality decisions. However, in an information space characterized by incomplete data, the quality of decisions diminishes. Software solutions capable of providing the necessary level of information quality, despite uncertainties and incompleteness, enable decision-making based on partial information while upholding a minimum standard of quality.

The Danube has a length of 588 km in the Republic of Serbia. The water transport on this river is underused. The hazardous events have a great impact on the traffic on this river, and the understanding of these events is of great importance. This study focuses on hazardous events on the Danube with the main focus on the port of Novi. The hazardous events used in this study are extreme air temperatures, devastating winds, drought, and heavy precipitation. The hazardous events were represented using geographic information systems (GIS), geostatistics, and numerical methods. The potential of the river transport network and the port capacity were analyzed and compared with the hazardous events of the last 30 years. The results showed that three areas of the port are of great importance for port security, and two areas are extremely affected by hazardous events. The distance of the port of Novi Sad from heavy precipitation events is 6.8 km in the southwestern direction. The periods of extremely low precipitation (climatic drought) were in 1994, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2019, and 2021. Extreme average maximum temperatures were in 1995, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2015, and 2019. On the other hand, minimum average temperatures were in 1994, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2017, and 2018, and the strongest winds were in 1995, 1998, 2003, 2009, 2012, and 2014. The methods and techniques of GIS, used in this research, have confirmed new potential geographical positions of the port that can be better adapted to future climate changes. Another main objective of this research is to recommend better spatial planning and construction of new green corridors.

Introduction/purpose: Decades of dealing with unexploded ordnance (UXO) in some areas of the Republic of Serbia have confirmed that it presents a substantial hazard to the security of people, property, and the environment. Even though the terrain has been cleaned, various threats from difficult-tofind UXO components remain serious. Inadequate systemic solutions for UXO management can have significant harmful consequences. Methods: Based on the spatial distribution analysis and different UXO types and quantities, this article studies the effects of dangerous components of unexploded ordnance on human lives and the environment. Two different geospatial analyses were performed including the guidelines for risk management through risk elimination based on multiple criteria, the GIS, and the Remote Sensing analysis. Results: Two different geospatial analyses resulted in the areas at high risk of remaining UXO. Conclusion: The article significantly contributes to creating an environmental risk management strategy for UXO-contaminated regions. It presents an effective technique for addressing risk assessment challenges in such sites. The analysis considers both risk analysis and environmental protection options. Using the multi-criteria analysis and the GIS, it estimates the exposure of built structures, people, soil types, and plant species to UXO dangers in key locations. This paper serves as a guideline for environmental risk assessment.

Challenges, risks and threats to the security of the Republic of Serbia are defined by the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Serbia. However, the concept of security at the global level can be considered before and after beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Consequently, the question arises of the need to analyze the relevance of the existing interpretation of challenges, risks and threats to the security of the Republic of Serbia. The goal of the work was stated, and for this purpose the research was conducted using: survey methods (survey technique) and statistical methods, with the fact that in the research process it was inevitable to implement the methods of expert evaluations, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction. Respondents (experts) in the research were retired and active members of the military and civilian security services, members of the Committee for Defence and Security and the Committee for Control of Security Services of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Serbia and members of the academic community whose sphere of interest is security science. The research, at the level of scientific description, resulted in the following outcome, an expert analysis of the list of dangers to the security of the Republic of Serbia from the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Serbia was performed, and on the basis of which observed deficiencies can be eliminated. The analysis consisted of: checking the list of dangers according to changes in the strategic environment, determining their impact and selection by groups.

Existing legal and by-law regulations prescribe risk management methodologies for various domains, such as the transportation of hazardous materials, fire and explosion protection, environmental protection, and protection against chemical accidents. However, there is a lack of comprehensive methodological guidance that unifies the management of all risks associated with the transportation of explosive remnants of war (ERW), which pose significant threats to human life, cultural assets, and the environment. Furthermore, the transportation of ERW often occurs along traffic corridors with compromised infrastructure, increasing the range of potential risks affecting the safety of people, their property, and critical infrastructure. This study presents an integrated risk management model for ERW transportation in the Republic of Serbia, developed based on current legal and by-law regulations, as well as modern criteria and risk assessment methodologies. By applying this model, the various risks associated with ERW transportation can be effectively mitigated, ensuring the safety and protection of people, assets, and the environment.
