The paper proposes a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) design based on the installation of a fuel cell (FC) module in the existing Daewoo Tico electric vehicle to increase its range in urban areas. Installing an FC module supplied by a 2 kg hydrogen tank would not significantly increase the mass of the electric vehicle, and the charging time of the hydrogen tank is lower than the battery charging time. For design analysis, a model was created in the MATLAB/Simulink software package. The model simulates vehicle range at different HEV speeds for Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) and Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) power sources. The greatest anticipated benefit derived from the model analysis relates to velocities ranging from 20 km/h to 30 km/h, although the optimal HEV velocity in an urban area is in the range of 30 km/h to 40 km/h. The results indicate that this conversion of Electric Vehicle (EV) to HEV would bring a benefit of 87.4% in terms of vehicle range in urban areas. Therefore, the result of the conversion in this case is a vehicle with sub-optimal characteristics, which are nevertheless very close to optimal.

The preprocessing of data is an important task in rough set theory as well as in Entropy. The discretization of data as part of the preprocessing of data is a very influential process. Is there a connection between the segmentation of the data histogram and data discretization? The authors propose a novel data segmentation technique based on a histogram with regard to the quality of a data discretization. The significance of a cut’s position has been researched on several groups of histograms. A data set reduct was observed with respect to the histogram type. Connections between the data histograms and cuts, reduct and the classification rules have been researched. The result is that the reduct attributes have a more irregular histogram than attributes out of the reduct. The following discretization algorithms were used: the entropy algorithm and the Maximal Discernibility algorithm developed in rough set theory. This article presents the Cuts Selection Method based on histogram segmentation, reduct of data and MD algorithm of discretization. An application on the selected database shows that the benefits of a selection of cuts relies on histogram segmentation. The results of the classification were compared with the results of the Naïve Bayes algorithm.

The paper presents a new form of indiscernibility relation based on graph. Based on widely accepted definitions of indiscernibility relation and its matrix representation, it has been shown how the indiscernibility relations can be obtained by a graph. The application of the indiscernibility graph enables the partitioning of the universe of objects represented by their attributes. This is in connection with the Rough sets theory (Z. Pawlak, 1980s). The relation between state space, when applied to the indiscernibility graph, is also theoretically discussed. Formal definitions are accompanied by some examples.

Correlation, functioning as a symmetric relation, is very powerful indicator of the mutual association between two attributes. The problem of weak correlation indicates a lack of linearity in the observed range. This paper presents the precise piecewise correlation method, which overcomes the problem by determining the segments where the linear association will be present. The determination was achieved using the histogram segmentation method. The conditions of the application and analysis of the method are presented, as well as the application of the method to the representative datasets. The obtained results confirm the existence of stronger linear associations on the segments. Detected correlations reveal the strength and nature of the symmetric association between two attributes on each of the separated segments.

Reliable change detection in indoor environments remains a challenge for autonomous robotic systems using 3D LiDAR. Existing methods often require manual annotation, computationally intensive architectures, or focus on outdoor scenes. This paper presents SPICD-Net, a lightweight Siamese PointNet framework for indoor 3D change detection trained exclusively on synthetically generated anomalies, eliminating manual labeling. The framework offers three deployment-oriented contributions: a three-class Siamese formulation separating no-change, changed, and geometrically inconsistent tile pairs; a pre-FPS anomaly injection strategy that aligns synthetic training with inference-time preprocessing; and a stochastic-gated Chamfer-statistics branch that complements learned embeddings with explicit geometric cues under consumer-grade hardware constraints. Evaluated on 14 controlled simulation experiments in an indoor corridor dataset, SPICD-Net achieved aggregated Precision = 0.86, Recall = 0.82, F1-score = 0.84, and Accuracy = 0.96, with zero false positives in the no-change baseline and mean inference time of 22.4 s for a 172-tile map on a single consumer GPU. Additional robustness experiments identified registration accuracy as the main operational prerequisite. A limited real-world validation in one unseen room (four scans, 67 tiles) achieved Precision = 0.583, Recall = 1.000, and F1 = 0.737.

This study examines the key factors influencing the quality of distance learning in higher education during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period when online learning became the dominant mode of education. Using a descriptive method and a 26-item questionnaire, data were collected from a representative sample of 360 students in Vojvodina, Serbia. The factors analyzed include computer literacy and technology access (Ph1), students’ ability to balance life obligations with study demands (Ph2), and their motivation for distance learning (Ph3). The results show that 89% of students had adequate IT access, 47% were able to reconcile study and personal obligations, and 70% reported strong motivation. Correlation analysis confirmed a statistically significant positive relationship between all three factors and students’ perceptions of well-organized distance learning, thus supporting the main research hypothesis. Beyond these findings, this study interprets digital literacy as adaptability, time management as resilience, and motivation as value orientation and future thinking—core dimensions of sustainability competences outlined in the European GreenComp framework. Distance learning is therefore positioned not only as an emergency response but also as a transformative pedagogy that integrates brain (knowledge), hands (skills), heart (values), and spirit (purpose), contributing to sustainable and resilient higher education.
