Aiming at the surrounding rock failure of heterogeneous and unequal pressure circular roadways, the approximate analytical algorithm of the plastic zone is proposed. Through the comparison of analytical calculations and numerical simulation, the shape characteristics and evolution law of the surrounding rock’s plastic zone are studied, and the relative error of the two calculation methods is analyzed. The results show the following: (1) With an increase or decrease in the lateral pressure coefficient, the shape of the plastic zone of the roadway-surrounding rock presents a circular-ellipse-butterfly shape change law, and the outer edge of the plastic zone presents a scattered shape, without a continuous boundary. (2) In the butterfly-shaped plastic zone, the butterfly leaf always lies between the maximum confining pressure and the minimum confining pressure and rotates with the pressure. (3) There is a certain amount of error between the maximum value of the plastic zone solved by an analytical algorithm and numerical simulation, and the relative error is positively related to the burial depth and lateral pressure coefficient of the roadway and negatively related to the strength of the surrounding rock. (4) In addition, the relative error of the plastic zone calculation of the multi-layer heterogeneous combination roadway is larger than that of the single heterogeneous roadway.
There is a great risk of roof falls in the advance support section of the mining face (ASSoMF), and it is difficult to control the roof. Based on the soft roof of Lijiahao coal mine, this paper studies the stress distribution of the ASSoMF and the space-time evolution of the surrounding rock plastic zone by using theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, and reveals its failure mechanism. Based on the control effect of support resistance on plastic zone, it is proposed that the advance support should mainly adapt to the roadway deformation. Advance equipment without repeated support for mechanized movement has been developed, and the support timing analysis and strength check have been carried out. Results show that the roadway at ASSoMF is in a non-uniform stress field, the confining pressure ratio reaches 1.5~7, and the surrounding rock forms asymmetric failure; the principal stress direction deflects, the angle between it and the vertical direction is about 10°~25°, and the plastic zone of the surrounding rock also rotates to the roadway roof. The proposed equipment can adapt to the characteristics of an unsymmetrical large deformation of a soft roof, and can effectively bear the roof load and maintain the stability of the roadway.
To analyze the relationship between the butterfly-shaped plastic zone and stress in the rock with a single hole, we investigated the influence law of four factors, namely, the shape of the hole, the loaded confining pressure value, the bidirectional stress ratio, and the hole location on the volume of the butterfly-shaped plastic zone of the standard specimen with a single hole based on the orthogonal test and numerical simulation. The results show that: (I) The bidirectional stress ratio has a significant effect on the size of the plastic zone of the rock with a single hole, while the shape of the hole has no effect. (II) The basic value of confining pressure can weaken the sensitivity of the bidirectional stress ratio required to generate the butterfly-shaped plastic zone, that is, when the confining pressure value increases, the bidirectional stress ratio required to generate the butterfly-shaped plastic zone decreases, but there is always a certain value for the infinite expansion of the plastic zone. (III) The plastic zone of the rock with a single hole has a butterfly-shaped invariance, which means that the failure form of the surrounding rock around the hole will eventually evolve into a butterfly-shaped plastic zone under the state of a non-uniform stress field that reaches a certain bidirectional stress ratio. The research results of this paper have guiding significance for the stability control of the surrounding rock in underground engineering under the non-uniform stress field environment.
The cable plays a vital role in roadway support. As the last barrier to prevent roof collapse and impact disaster accidents, it is of great significance to study stress characteristics of cables under impact dynamic load to guide the rock burst roadway support. With high-strength cables of Φ21.6 and Φ21.8 mm and low-resistance high-extension cables of Φ21.5 mm as examples, this paper studied the instantaneous mechanical state and energy dissipation characteristics of different types of cables under impact loads by using impact testing machines and high-frequency data acquisition system. The results show that the impact process can strengthen the strength of the cable. The strength and elongation of anchor cables are a pair of characteristic indexes with an inverse relationship. Simply increasing one index cannot improve the overall impact resistance of the cable. To quantitatively characterize the impact resistance and energy absorption effect of cables, the impact resistance index k was introduced. The smaller the index, the better the energy absorption effect of cables. In the process of dynamic load impact of high-strength cable, about 43.7% of the total energy is dissipated disordered in the form of mechanical energy. The dynamic load impact process of low-resistance and high-extension cables is similar to the viscoelastic impact. In the collision compaction stage, the force of the cable is basically constant. Most of the impact energy is absorbed or transformed by the cable, about 17.7% of which is mostly dissipated in the form of mechanical energy. The disordered dissipated mechanical energy is less, so the impact resistance and energy absorption effect of this cable are better. The cable plays an important role in the process of bearing the dynamic load of surrounding rock. The anti-impact performance index of cables should be considered in dynamic load impact roadway support design.
