A total of 8.46 million tons of date fruit are produced annually around the world. The date fruit is considered a high-valued confectionery and fruit crop. The hot arid zones of Southwest Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East are the major producers of date fruit. The production of dates in 1961 was 1.8 million tons, which increased to 2.8 million tons in 1985. In 2001, the production of dates was recorded at 5.4 million tons, whereas recently it has reached 8.46 million tons. A common problem found in the industry is the absence of an autonomous system for the classification of date fruit, resulting in reliance on only the manual expertise, often involving hard work, expense, and bias. Recently, Machine Learning (ML) techniques have been employed in such areas of agriculture and fruit farming and have brought great convenience to human life. An automated system based on ML can carry out the fruit classification and sorting tasks that were previously handled by human experts. In various fields, CNNs (convolutional neural networks) have achieved impressive results in image classification. Considering the success of CNNs and transfer learning in other image classification problems, this research also employs a similar approach and proposes an efficient date classification model. In this research, a dataset of eight different classes of date fruit has been created to train the proposed model. Different preprocessing techniques have been applied in the proposed model, such as image augmentation, decayed learning rate, model checkpointing, and hybrid weight adjustment to increase the accuracy rate. The results show that the proposed model based on MobileNetV2 architecture has achieved 99% accuracy. The proposed model has also been compared with other existing models such as AlexNet, VGG16, InceptionV3, ResNet, and MobileNetV2. The results prove that the proposed model performs better than all other models in terms of accuracy.

Background: Alzheimer’s, the predominant formof dementia, is a neurodegenerative brain disorder with no known cure. With the lack of innovative findings to diagnose and treat Alzheimer’s, the number of middle-aged people with dementia is estimated to hike nearly to 13 million by the end of 2050. The estimated cost of Alzheimer’s and other related ailments is USD321 billion in 2022 and can rise above USD1 trillion by the end of 2050. Therefore, the early prediction of such diseases using computer-aided systems is a topic of considerable interest and substantial study among scholars. The major objective is to develop a comprehensive framework for the earliest onset and categorization of different phases of Alzheimer’s. Methods: Experimental work of this novel approach is performed by implementing neural networks (CNN) on MRI image datasets. Five classes of Alzheimer’s disease subjects are multi-classified. We used the transfer learning determinant to reap the benefits of pre-trained health data classification models such as the MobileNet. Results: For the evaluation and comparison of the proposed model, various performance metrics are used. The test results reveal that the CNN architectures method has the following characteristics: appropriate simple structures that mitigate computational burden, memory usage, and overfitting, as well as offering maintainable time. The MobileNet pre-trained model has been fine-tuned and has achieved 96.6 percent accuracy for multi-class AD stage classifications. Other models, such as VGG16 and ResNet50 models, are applied tothe same dataset whileconducting this research, and it is revealed that this model yields better results than other models. Conclusion: The study develops a novel framework for the identification of different AD stages. The main advantage of this novel approach is the creation of lightweight neural networks. MobileNet model is mostly used for mobile applications and was rarely used for medical image analysis; hence, we implemented this model for disease detection andyieldedbetter results than existing models.

Different kinds of techniques are evaluated and analyzed for various classification models for the detection of diseases of citrus fruits. This paper aims to systematically review the papers that focus on the prediction, detection, and classification of citrus fruit diseases that have employed machine learning, deep learning, and statistical techniques. Additionally, this paper explores the present state of the art of the concept of image acquisition, digital image processing, feature extraction, and classification approaches, and each one is discussed separately. A total of 78 papers are selected after applying primary selection criteria, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and quality assessment criteria. We observe that the following are widely used in the selected studies: hyperspectral imaging systems for the image acquisition process, thresholding for image processing, support vector machine (SVM) models as machine learning (ML) models, convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures as deep learning models, principal component analysis (PCA) as a statistical model, and classification accuracy as evaluation parameters. Moreover, the color feature is the most popularly used feature for the RGB color space. From the review studies that performed comparative analyses, we find that the best techniques that outperformed other techniques in their respective categories are as follows: SVM among the ML methods, ANN among the neural network networks, CNN among the deep learning methods, and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) among the statistical techniques. This study concludes with meta-analysis, limitations, and future research directions.

In recent decades, deep-learning dependent fruit disease detection and classification techniques have evinced outstanding results in technologically advanced horticulture investigation. Due to the comparatively limited image processing capabilities of edge computing devices, implementing deep learning methods in actual field scenarios is currently difficult. The use of intelligent machines in contemporary horticulture is being hampered by these restrictions, which are emerging as a new barrier. In this research, we present an efficient model for citrus fruit disease prediction. The proposed model utilizes the fusion of deep learning models CNN and LSTM with edge computing. The proposed model employs an enhanced feature-extraction mechanism, with a down-sampling approach, and then a feature-fusion subsystem to ensure significant recognition on edge computing devices with retaining citrus fruit disease detection accuracy. This research utilizes the online Kaggle and plan village dataset which contains 2950 citrus fruit images with disease categories black spots, cankers, scabs, Melanosis, and greening. The proposed model and existing model are tested with two features with pruning and without pruning and compared based on various performance measuring parameters, i.e., precision, recall, f-measure, and support. In the first phase experimental analysis is performed using Magnitude Based Pruning and in the second phase Magnitude Based Pruning with Post Quantization. The proposed CNN-LSTM model achieves an accuracy rate of 97.18% with Magnitude-Based Pruning and 98.25% with Magnitude-Based Pruning with Post Quantization, which is better as compared to the existing CNN method.

As Internet access widens, IDS (Intrusion Detection System) is becoming a very important component of network security to prevent unauthorized use and misuse of data. An IDS routinely handles massive amounts of data traffc that contain redundant and irrelevant features, which impact the performance of the IDS negatively. Feature selection methods play an important role in eliminating unrelated and redundant features in IDS. Statistical analysis, neural networks, machine learning, data mining techniques, and support vector machine models are employed in some such methods. Good feature selection leads to better classification accuracy. Recently, bio-inspired optimization algorithms have been used for feature selection. This work provides a survey of feature selection techniques for IDS, including bio-inspired algorithms.
