Scientific and appropriate visualizations increase the effectiveness and readability of disaster information. However, existing fusion visualization methods for disaster scenes have some deficiencies, such as the low efficiency of scene visualization and difficulties with disaster information recognition and sharing. In this paper, a fusion visualization method for disaster information, based on self-explanatory symbols and photorealistic scene cooperation, was proposed. The self-explanatory symbol and photorealistic scene cooperation method, the construction of spatial semantic rules, and fusion visualization with spatial semantic constraints were discussed in detail. Finally, a debris flow disaster was selected for experimental analysis. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively realize the fusion visualization of disaster information, effectively express disaster information, maintain high-efficiency visualization, and provide decision-making information support to users involved in the disaster process.

Evacuation simulations in virtual indoor fire scenes hold great significance for public safety. However, existing evacuation simulation methods are inefficient and provide poor visualized when applied to virtual reality (VR) simulations. Additionally, the influences of the interaction of evacuation processes on the choice of multiple exits have not been fully considered. In the paper, we propose a VR simulation method for crowd evacuation in a multiexit indoor fire environment. An indoor 3D scene model and character model, for studying the environmental factors that affect the multiexit selection of personnel during the fire process, are combined with environmental factors to enhance the evacuation route planning algorithm to improve the efficiency of the VR simulation of evacuation in the scene. In addition, a prototype system that supports multiple experience modes is proposed, and case experiment analyses are performed. The results show that the method described in this paper can effectively support the real-time simulation of indoor fire evacuations in virtual scenes, providing both reliable simulation results and good visualization effects.

The complexity of interrelationships between urban natural environments and human environments is increasing with rapid urbanization. This brings new challenges to urban modeling and simulation in simultaneously meeting the comprehensive needs of the dual integration of data and models, multi-type visualizations, human-centered simulation, geographic collaboration, and interactions between physical and virtual spaces. We here propose virtual geographic environments (VGEs) as a new platform of urban modeling and simulation. After discussing the evolution, definition, and features of VGEs, we design a VGE framework for urban system modeling and simulation. Two typical cases are provided to illustrate how VGEs support urban modeling and simulation on different scales: VGE-based collaborative modeling and the simulation of air pollution dispersion in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) urban agglomeration, and fire emergency crowd evacuation simulation. In the future, VGEs may also play an important role in digital twin cities and urban metaverses.

Virtual maintenance, which is widely used in aerospace, automobile, military equipment, etc., has been given abroad attention among equipment life-cycle including concept definition, system design, component production, daily operation, troubleshooting, and so on. Virtual maintenance has been given many different definitions and lot of technologies for implementation, but there is no clear systematic conclusion on the both. Based on the review of the current achievements, the elements of virtual maintenance are extracted, the technologies are systematically explored, and the applications are developed. Meanwhile, the future perspectives of virtual maintenance are discussed associated with virtual reality and augmented reality, multi-person collaboration, remote assistance, as well as artificial intelligence.

Behavior Modeling and Simulation is an important method to analyze macro-and micro-behaviors of groups and individuals. It can predict and analyze the law of crowd activity under a certain density and provide important support for the study of social and economic activities and war and military activities. It has been widely used in emergency response, combat simulation and many other fields. This paper reviews behavioral modeling and simulation, mainly from the current situation of behavioral simulation applications, the main methods of behavioral modeling and the needs of future development direction. Firstly, the application status of behavior simulation is analyzed from both military and social aspects. In the aspect of social behavior simulation, it mainly analyses several aspects, such as safe evacuation, automatic driving, road traffic planning, intelligent robots and so on. In the aspect of military behavior simulation, it mainly analyses individual combat behavior simulation, battlefield element model construction, combat action combination model, multi-agent coupling simulation and so on. Secondly, the method of behavior modeling is deeply analyzed, and the main models of behavior modeling are summarized, including social force model, cellular automata model, agent model, etc. At the same time, the behavior model of individual’s multiple forces in a certain environment and the emergence effect model of group are deeply analyzed. Finally, based on the above two aspects of research and analysis results, this paper aims at the simulation of multi-person cooperative attack and defense, which is a military behavior simulation problem. From the four aspects of dynamic environmental factors, operational rules constraints, enemy threat factors and multi-agent cooperative control, this paper puts forward several problems that need to be further improved in cooperative attack and defense.
