In this study, we investigate how Wilks’ lambda, Pillai’s trace, Hotelling’s trace, and Roy’s largest root test statistics can be affected when the normal and homogeneous variance assumptions of the MANOVA method are violated. In other words, in these cases, the robustness of the tests is examined. For this purpose, a simulation study is conducted in different scenarios. In different variable numbers and different sample sizes, considering the group variances are homogeneous and heterogeneous (increasing) , random numbers are generated from Gamma(4-4-4; 0.5), Gamma(4-9-36; 0.5), Student’s t(2), and Normal(0; 1) distributions. Furthermore, the number of observations in the groups being balanced and unbalanced is also taken into account. After 10000 repetitions, type-I error values are calculated for each test for α = 0.05. In the Gamma distribution, Pillai’s trace test statistic gives more robust results in the case of homogeneous and heterogeneous variances for 2 variables, and in the case of 3 variables, Roy’s largest root test statistic gives more robust results in balanced samples and Pillai’s trace test statistic in unbalanced samples. In Student’s t distribution, Pillai’s trace test statistic gives more robust results in the case of homogeneous variance and Wilks’ lambda test statistic in the case of heterogeneous variance. In the normal distribution, in the case of homogeneous variance for 2 variables, Roy’s largest root test statistic gives relatively more robust results and Wilks’ lambda test statistic for 3 variables. Also in the case of heterogeneous variance for 2 and 3 variables, Roy’s largest root test statistic gives robust results in the normal distribution. The test statistics used with MANOVA are affected by the violation of homogeneity of covariance matrices and normality assumptions particularly from unbalanced number of observations.

Background: Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) is an infectious disease induced by the Capripoxvirus, causing epidemics in Turkey and several countries worldwide and inducing significant economic losses. Although this disease occurs in Turkish cattle every year, it is a notifiable disease. In this study, LSD in Turkey was modelled using the Susceptible, Exposed, Infectious, and Recovered (SEIR) epidemiological model, and production losses were estimated with predictions of the course of the disease. The animal population was categorized into four groups: Susceptible, Exposed, Infectious, and Recovered, and model parameters were obtained. The SEIR model was formulated with an outbreak calculator simulator applied for demonstration purposes. Results: Production losses caused by the LSD epidemic and the SEIR model’s predictions on the disease’s course were evaluated. Although 1282 cases were identified in Turkey during the study period, the prevalence of LSD was calculated as 4.51%, and the mortality rate was 1.09%. The relationship between the disease duration and incubation period was emphasized in the simulated SEIR model to understand the dynamics of LSD. Early detection of the disease during the incubation period significantly affected the peak time of the disease. According to the model, if the disease was detected during the incubation period, the sick animal's time could transmit the disease (Tinf) was calculated as 2.66 days. Production loss from LSD infection was estimated at US $ 886.34 for dairy cattle and the US $ 1,066.61 for beef cattle per animal. Conclusion: Detection of LSD infection during the incubation period changes the course of the disease and may reduce the resulting economic loss.

Objective: In this study, we translated and adapted into Turkish the Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research (SRQR), a checklist used in reporting qualitative research. Our aim is to expand the use of the SRQR checklist and make it more accessible. Materials and Methods: Three authors (3rd, 4th, and 5th in author order) translated the SRQR checklist into Turkish independently. The translation was finalized with the consensus among the authors who translated the checklist. Afterwards, an expert back translated and examined the checklist. To evaluate the reproducibility and intelligibility of the Turkish SRQR checklist, 1st and 2nd authors reviewed 20 studies which used qualitative research methods. Then, the similarity between the 1st and 2nd authors’ reviews was examined using the inter-rater agreement percentage for each criterion in the checklist. The inter-rater agreement was further evaluated using the Bland-Altman method, the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), and the total number of reported criteria. Results: According to the review of 20 studies, there is a large variation in reporting the SRQR criteria. ICC values range from 44.1 to 87.7. Conclusion: The Turkish SRQR checklist can serve as a guide for the reviewers, journal editors, and researchers who conduct qualitative research. Amaç: Bu çalışmada, Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research (SRQR) kontrol listesinin Türkçe literatürde yer alan nitel araştırmalardaki kullanım alanının genişletilmesi ve standartlara erişimin yaygınlaştırılması amaçlanmıştır.
