Edward Anthony is a Professor of Coastal Geomorphology at Aix-Marseille University. He is a Senior Laureate of the Institut Universitaire de France. His scientific activity focuses on the connections between the human and natural dimensions of coasts and on how human activities and developments impact coastal geomorphology, sediment dynamics, ecology, and management, especially in the face of global change, sea level rise, and sediment supply perturbations in river systems. His particular area of focus is river deltas. He teaches at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. He has been editor-in-chief of the Elsevier scientific journal Marine Geology since October 2015 and a member of the editorial boards of Scientific Reports, Journal of Marine Science and
Engineering, and Journal of Coastal Research.
