Recently, it has proven difficult to make an immediate remote diagnosis of any coronary illness, including heart disease, diabetes, etc. The drawbacks of cloud computing infrastructures, such as excessive latency, bandwidth, energy consumption, security, and privacy concerns, have lately been addressed by Fog computing with IoT applications. In this study, an IoT-Fog-Cloud integrated system, called a Fog-empowered framework for real-time analysis in heart patients using ENsemble Deep learning (FRIEND), has been introduced that can instantaneously facilitate remote diagnosis of heart patients. The proposed system was trained on the combined dataset of Long-Beach, Cleveland, Switzerland, and Hungarian heart disease datasets. We first tested the model with eight basic ML approaches, including the decision tree, logistic regression, random forest, naive Bayes, k-nearest neighbors, support vector machine, AdaBoost, and XGBoost approaches, and then applied ensemble methods including bagging classifiers, weighted averaging, and soft and hard voting to achieve enhanced outcomes and a deep neural network, a deep learning approach, with the ensemble methods. These models were validated using 16 performance and 9 network parameters to justify this work. The accuracy, PPV, TPR, TNR, and F1 scores of the experiments reached 94.27%, 97.59%, 96.09%, 75.44%, and 96.83%, respectively, which were comparatively higher when the deep neural network was assembled with bagging and hard-voting classifiers. The user-friendliness and the inclusion of Fog computing principles, instantaneous remote cardiac patient diagnosis, low latency, and low energy consumption, etc., are advantages confirmed according to the achieved experimental results.

Malware complexity is rapidly increasing, causing catastrophic impacts on computer systems. Memory dump malware is gaining increased attention due to its ability to expose plaintext passwords or key encryption files. This paper presents an enhanced classification model based on One class SVM (OCSVM) classifier that can identify any deviation from the normal memory dump file patterns and detect it as malware. The proposed model integrates OCSVM and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for increased model sensitivity and efficiency. An up-to-date dataset known as “MALMEMANALYSIS-2022” was utilized during the evaluation phase of this study. The accuracy achieved by the traditional one-class classification (TOCC) model was 55%, compared to 99.4% in the one-class classification with the PCA (OCC-PCA) model. Such results have confirmed the improved performance achieved by the proposed model.

This research utilizes metaheuristic optimization inspired by the Egyptian Vulture Optimization (EVO) technique. Biomedical image segregation is developed to reduce the complex association of hyperparameters of Convolutional Neural networks (CNN). The complex attributes of CNN include the type of kernel, size of the kernel, size of the batch, epoch counts, momentum, learning rate, activation function, convolution layer, and dropout. However, the life cycle of an Egyptian vulture influences the optimization technique to resolve complexity and increase the accuracy of CNN. The proposed CNN-based EVO model was evaluated in comparison to ANN-based and deep learning-based classifiers utilizing brain MRI image datasets. The results achieved have confirmed the efficiency and performance of the proposed CNN-based EVO model, in which the average detection accuracy and precision were 93 and 95, respectively.

Protecting the confidentiality of images is considered critical for all industries. Encryption stands out as the foremost protective strategy for image security. However, various image dimensions and quality concerns challenge conventional encryption methods in balancing the security objective, substantial computational resources, and image quality. This paper presents a lightweight cryptographic approach designed to match the robustness of traditional encryption schemes while minimizing the computational and time requirements to be more suitable for real-time applications and IoT environments. The proposed approach extracts the three Most Significant Bit (MSB) planes from the original image. Then, it applies a permutation on each bit plane using a chaotic logistic map to generate the key used as new indices for effective permutation of pixel locations. A set of performance metrics, such as the Correlation Coefficient (CC), Mean Square Error (MSE), Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), and CPU and RAM utilization, is used in the evaluation process. The results indicate that the proposed approach outperforms the traditional Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in terms of computational efficiency and overhead. A 2% reduction in CPU and RAM utilization and a 96% decrease in extraction time were achieved while maintaining comparable security based on MSE, PSNR, and CC to AES. This improvement in efficiency is achieved while maintaining an acceptable level of security, which makes it more suitable for resource-constrained IoT devices.

Connected and Autonomous Vehicles are promising for advancing traffic safety and efficiency. However, the increased connectivity makes these vehicles vulnerable to a broad array of cyber threats. This paper presents a novel hybrid approach for intrusion detection in in-vehicle networks, specifically focusing on the Controller Area Network bus. Ensemble learning techniques are combined with sophisticated optimization techniques and dynamic adaptation mechanisms to develop a robust, accurate, and computationally efficient intrusion detection system. The proposed system is evaluated on real-world automotive network datasets that include various attack types (e.g., Denial of Service, fuzzy, and spoofing attacks). With these results, the proposed hybrid adaptive system achieves an unprecedented accuracy of 99.995% with a 0.00001% false positive rate, which is significantly more accurate than traditional methods. In addition, the system is very robust to novel attack patterns and is tolerant to varying computational constraints and is suitable for deployment on a real-time basis in various automotive platforms. As this research represents a significant advancement in automotive cybersecurity, a scalable and proactive defense mechanism is necessary to safely operate next-generation vehicles.
