This paper presents a novel probability distribution, namely the XLindley distribution, derived from a unique combination of exponential and gamma distributions through a special mixture formulation. The study extensively investigates the mathematical properties of the proposed distribution, including but not limited to the moment generation function, moments of different orders, mode identification, and the quantile function. Furthermore, the research employs a Monte Carlo simulation to assess and compare the performance of various estimators in estimating the unknown parameter of the XLindley distribution. These estimators are carefully evaluated and analyzed in terms of their efficiency and accuracy, providing valuable insights into the practical application of the new distribution in statistical modeling and data analysis contexts. The voltage and failure time data in the field of engineering are used to model the proposed distribution. The new model is compared with many current distributions such as Xlindley, gamma, Weibull, exponential, Lindley, Shanker, Akash, Zeghdoudi, Chris-Jerry, and Xgamma. Among all models, it is concluded that the new one-parameter distribution performed the best in modeling based on criteria such as the Akaike information criterion, Bayesian information criterion, and others. The real data results show that the proposed distribution exhibits greater flexibility and improved goodness of fit compared to alternative distributions. The new XLindley distribution could be useful in modeling real-life data and may warrant further exploration in future research. Overall, this study contributes to the field of probability distributions and provides new insights for statistical modeling.

Here, we present a new bounded distribution known as the power Lambert uniform distribution, and we deduce some of its statistical properties such as quantile function, moments, incomplete moments, mean residual life and mean inactivity time, Lorenz, Bonferroni, and Zenga curves, and order statistics. We presented different shapes of the probability density function and the hazard function of the proposed model. Eleven traditional methods are used to estimate its parameters. The behavior of these estimators is investigated using simulation results. Some actuarial measures are derived mathematically for our proposed model. Some numerical computations for these actuarial measures are given for some choices of parameters and significance levels. A new quantile regression model is constructed based on the new unit distribution. The maximum likelihood estimation method is used to estimate the unknown parameters of the regression model. Furthermore, the usability of the new distribution and regression models is demonstrated with the COVID-19 and educational datasets, respectively.

In this paper, we emphasize a new one-parameter distribution with support as [1,+∞). It is constructed from the inverse method applied to an understudied one-parameter unit distribution, the unit Teissier distribution. Some properties are investigated, such as the mode, quantiles, stochastic dominance, heavy-tailed nature, moments, etc. Among the strengths of the distribution are the following: (i) the closed-form expressions and flexibility of the main functions, and in particular, the probability density function is unimodal and the hazard rate function is increasing or unimodal; (ii) the manageability of the moments; and, more importantly, (iii) it provides a real alternative to the famous Pareto distribution, also with support as [1,+∞). Indeed, the proposed distribution has different functionalities but also benefits from the heavy-right-tailed nature, which is demanded in many applied fields (finance, the actuarial field, quality control, medicine, etc.). Furthermore, it can be used quite efficiently in a statistical setting. To support this claim, the maximum likelihood, Anderson–Darling, right-tailed Anderson–Darling, left-tailed Anderson–Darling, Cramér–Von Mises, least squares, weighted least-squares, maximum product of spacing, minimum spacing absolute distance, and minimum spacing absolute-log distance estimation methods are examined to estimate the unknown unique parameter. A Monte Carlo simulation is used to compare the performance of the obtained estimates. Additionally, the Bayesian estimation method using an informative gamma prior distribution under the squared error loss function is discussed. Data on the COVID mortality rate and the timing of pain relief after receiving an analgesic are considered to illustrate the applicability of the proposed distribution. Favorable results are highlighted, supporting the importance of the findings.

In this paper, a new flexible two-parameter family of distributions is introduced. Some mathematical properties, such as asymptotic behavior, moments, stochastic order, entropy, and quantile function, are examined. A special case of this family is introduced called Gemeay–Zeghdoudi distribution. The unknown parameters of the Gemeay–Zeghdoudi distribution are estimated via many estimators. The efficiency of the estimators is compared with a Monte Carlo simulation. The applicability of the new distribution is illustrated by the annual maximum flood and survival times of patients with breast cancer real data analyses.

In this paper, a new discrete distribution called Binomial-Discrete Lindley (BDL) distribution is proposed by compounding the binomial and discrete Lindley distributions. Some properties of the distribution are discussed including the moment generating function, moments and hazard rate function. The estimation of distribution parameter is studied by methods of moments, proportions and maximum likelihood. A simulation study is performed to compare the performance of the different estimates in terms of bias and mean square errors. Automobile claim data applications are also presented to see that the new distribution is useful in modelling data.
