In 2000, Dr. Bassam Al-Naami earned his PhD in BME from Saint-Petersburg State Electrotechnical University in Russia with a focus on interaction with operational training 3D virtual reality systems. At the former Stavropol State Tech University, he successfully completed his five-year honors degree in Biomedical Engineering (BME) and Instrumentation in 1997. Dr. Al-Naami worked closely with both the television and video engineering department and the BME department during his research. He worked as a visiting researcher at the BME Division at the University of Sussex in the UK from 2001 to 2003. After there, he joined the BME department at the University of Hashemite (HU), in Jordan, where he has worked continuously since 2003 and is currently a professor. The main areas of research interest for Dr. Al-Naami include image and signal processing, medical devices, and ergonomics of virtual reality. He has written more than 50 published works and had a considerable impact as a reviewer for well-known publishers all around the world.
