Paloma Pineda is Professor at the Department of Building Structures and Geotechnical Engineering, in the Universidad de Sevilla, Spain.
She has a multidisciplinary background (PhD in Structural Engineering and Architecture, MSc (Continuum Mechanics and Structures), MSc (Physics), March and BArch ). This interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary character is actively extended to her research, practice and academic activities. Her technical, teaching and research expertise ranges from Architectural Structures to Architectural Heritage Preservation, Diagnosis and Repair of Buildings, Historical Structures, Earthquake Engineering, Building Safety Assessment, Retrofitting of Structures, Sustainable Construction, Green Structures, Architectural Design, Numerical Analysis and Computational Modelling.
She works constructively both in academia and with external partners (Companies, Government and International Institutions) as professor, researcher and practitioner.
She is engaged in international research and scholarship activities, such as: promoting international relationships between universities, publishing in international journals and books, participating in editorial boards, supervising PhD and master students, and performing research activities in outstanding areas. For 6 years, she has contributed to the governance of the School of Architecture of the Universidad de Sevilla (Spain) as Vice-Dean.
