Patrícia Padrão graduated in Nutritional Sciences in 2001 from the Faculty of Food and Nutritional Sciences (FCNAUP), where she has worked since 2004 as a technician and teacher. In 2007, she concluded her master’s degree in Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine and Abel Salazar Biomedical Sciences Institute of the University of Porto, with her research focusing on social, demographic, behavioural and health aspects of smoking in Portugal.
In 2014, she completed her PhD in Food Consumption and Nutritional Sciences at FCNAUP, with her research focusing on risk factors for non-communicable diseases in Mozambique, developed in collaboration with the ISPUP. She has since been developing research in national and international projects in the area of risk factors for non-communicable diseases, particularly on the exposure to food and nutritional conditions, which resulted in the (co)authorship of several scientific publications in national and international journals.
She is a member of the scientific council of the Institute of Hydration and Health and of the editorial board of the journal Current Opinion in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Obesity. She integrates the Fiscal Council of the Professional Association of Nutritionists in Portugal.
