Background/Objectives: Loneliness is the sensation of feeling alone or emotionally isolated, even when one is surrounded by other people. It is associated with conditions such as depression, anxiety, harmful habits, and cardiovascular problems. The main objective of the present study was to develop and determine the psychometric properties of the Multidimensional Loneliness Scale (MLS), which is a self-report instrument. Methods: The present study is instrumental in nature, as it aims to analyze the psychometric properties of a new assessment instrument. A total of 484 adults, both men and women, aged between 18 and 55 years, participated in this research. Results: Exploratory factor analysis revealed the presence of four dimensions: social disconnection, family estrangement, loss of attachment figure, and intrapersonal emptiness. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the four-dimensional model exhibited a good fit (CFI = 0.91; RMSEA = 0.07; SRMR = 0.07; AIC = 737.87). The concurrent validity was evidenced by significant correlations with the De Jong Gierveld scale and the Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale. The reliability analysis demonstrated satisfactory internal consistency, with omega coefficients ranging from 0.84 to 0.92 and alpha coefficients from 0.84 to 0.93. Conclusions: The MLS is a self-report instrument designed to assess loneliness, and it has satisfactory psychometric properties.

Background/Objectives: Intimate partner violence (IPV) remains a critical social issue, with gender perspectives offering valuable insights into its dynamics. Recent studies suggest that alexithymia, or the inability to identify and express emotions, may play a significant role in exacerbating IPV, especially in peri-urban areas. The general objective of this study was to determine the moderating role of gender in the relationship between alexithymia and intimate partner violence among adults in populated centers in Trujillo in 2024. Methods: A correlational research design with explanatory scope was employed, including moderation analysis. The sample consisted of 108 adults aged 18 to 35 from populated centers. The instruments used included the Intimate Partner Violence Scale, the Toronto Alexithymia Scale, and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Results: Results indicated that, in the alexithymia variable, females predominated with a high level (78%), followed by a medium level (19%). In the intimate partner violence variable, females also predominated, with 48% at a high level and 39% at a medium level. Additionally, a positive, moderate-to-high, and significant correlation (ρ = 0.78, p < 0.001) was found between alexithymia and intimate partner violence. Conclusions: The study concluded that gender does indeed serve as a moderating variable (E = 1.42, p < 0.001) in the relationship between alexithymia and intimate partner violence in adults from populated centers.

Evidence for the original adult Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) in Peruvian university populations remains limited, particularly regarding score comparability across sex. This cross-sectional psychometric study evaluated the factor structure, internal consistency, and sex-related measurement invariance of the original 10-item ERQ and an exploratory nine-item configuration in 414 psychology undergraduates from a private university in Trujillo, Peru. The correlated two-factor ERQ-10 showed a mixed but viable fit (χ2(34) = 84.56, CFI = 0.933, RMSEA = 0.060, 90% CI [0.044, 0.076], SRMR = 0.057), with positive loadings ranging from 0.381 to 0.806. Post hoc exclusion of Item 1 produced a stronger approximate fit (χ2(26) = 46.03, CFI = 0.971, RMSEA = 0.043, 90% CI [0.021, 0.063], SRMR = 0.045), but reliability changed negligibly. For the nine-item configuration, full metric invariance was not supported; partial metric, partial scalar, and partial strict invariance were supported after freeing the Item 5 loading across sex. The ERQ-10 therefore remains viable for group-level research in this sample, whereas the alternative configuration should be regarded as a sample-derived hypothesis requiring independent replication, broader samples, and evidence based on external variables.
