In the context of the booming Internet of Vehicles, predicting vehicle trajectories is crucial for intelligent transportation systems. Existing methods, reliant on sensor data and behavior models, struggle with intricate relationships between vehicles and dynamic road networks. To overcome these challenges, we propose the Vehicle Interaction-based Dynamic Graph Neural Network (VI-DGNN) model. This model constructs a vehicle interaction graph to capture temporal and spatial dependencies among vehicles. A spatiotemporal attention network is employed to discern patterns in vehicle movements, addressing high-speed changes. Our model introduces a vehicle interaction mechanism for dynamic movement, leveraging proximity timestamp graph structures. By incorporating vehicle behavioral features and road network topology, our model minimizes distribution prediction variance, enhancing stability. Experimental results on real datasets demonstrate superior long-term prediction performance compared to state-of-the-art baselines.
The 3D bin packing problem is a challenging combinatorial optimization problem with numerous real-world applications. In this paper, we present a novel approach for solving this problem by integrating a generative adversarial network (GAN) with a genetic algorithm (GA). Our proposed GAN-based GA utilizes the GAN to generate high-quality solutions and improve the exploration and exploitation capabilities of the GA. We evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm on a set of benchmark instances and compare it with two existing algorithms. The simulation studies demonstrate that our proposed algorithm outperforms both existing algorithms in terms of the number of used bins while achieving comparable computation times. Our proposed algorithm also performs well in terms of solution quality and runtime on instances of different sizes and shapes. We conduct sensitivity analysis and parameter tuning simulations to determine the optimal values for the key parameters of the proposed algorithm. Our results indicate that the proposed algorithm is robust and effective in solving the 3D bin packing problem. The proposed GAN-based GA algorithm and its modifications can be applied to other optimization problems. Our research contributes to the development of efficient and effective algorithms for solving complex optimization problems, particularly in the context of logistics and manufacturing. In summary, the proposed algorithm represents a promising solution to the challenging 3D bin packing problem and has the potential to advance the state-of-the-art in combinatorial optimization.
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are increasingly deployed in critical applications from healthcare to military systems, yet they face significant security challenges due to their resource constraints and distributed nature. This paper addresses two fundamental security problems in WSNs, i.e., vulnerable key distribution and Sybil attacks. Specifically, we propose a synergized security framework, a groundbreaking approach tailored to enhance the security performance of WSNs. First, a bidirectional hash-based key pre-distribution scheme that increases key generation complexity by 43% while maintaining low memory requirements. Second, a multi-trust layered detection mechanism that combines energy consumption pattern analysis with fuzzy logic for Sybil attack detection, achieving a 91.7% detection rate. Finally, comprehensive evaluations using OMNeT++ with networks of 1–500 nodes demonstrate that our framework outperforms existing protocols (LEAP, SPINS, ESK) by 17–32% in network throughput and 12–26% in node connectivity, while maintaining comparable latency to quantum-based methods (QKD, BB84). Real-world validation in a 32-node test environment confirms the framework’s practical effectiveness with only 4.3% performance deviation from simulation results. Our framework particularly excels in dynamic networks, maintaining 89% effectiveness even with 15% node mobility rates, significantly advancing the state-of-the-art in WSN security.
Processing ancient text images presents significant challenges due to severe visual degradation, missing glyph structures, and various types of noise caused by aging. These issues are particularly prominent in Chinese historical documents and stone inscriptions, where diverse writing styles, multi-angle capturing, uneven lighting, and low contrast further hinder the performance of traditional OCR techniques. In this paper, we propose a unified neural framework, UniText, for the detection, recognition, and glyph restoration of Chinese characters in images of historical documents and inscriptions. UniText operates at the character level and processes full-page inputs, making it robust to multi-scale, multi-oriented, and noise-corrupted text. The model adopts a multi-task architecture that integrates spatial localization, semantic recognition, and visual restoration through stroke-aware supervision and multi-scale feature aggregation. Experimental results on our curated dataset of ancient Chinese texts demonstrate that UniText achieves a competitive performance in detection and recognition while producing visually faithful restorations under challenging conditions. This work provides a technically scalable and generalizable framework for image-based document analysis, with potential applications in historical document processing, digital archiving, and broader tasks in text image understanding.
The global population is progressively entering an aging phase, with population aging likely to emerge as one of the most-significant social trends of the 21st Century, impacting nearly all societal domains. Addressing the challenge of assisting vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled in carrying or transporting objects has become a critical issue in this field. We developed a mobile Internet of Things (IoT) device leveraging Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology in this context. This research directly benefits vulnerable groups, including the elderly, disabled individuals, pregnant women, and children. Additionally, it provides valuable references for decision-makers, engineers, and researchers to address real-world challenges. The focus of this research is on implementing UWB technology for precise mobile IoT device localization and following, while integrating an autonomous following system, a robotic arm system, an ultrasonic obstacle-avoidance system, and an automatic leveling control system into a comprehensive experimental platform. To counteract the potential UWB signal fluctuations and high noise interference in complex environments, we propose a hybrid filtering-weighted fusion back propagation (HFWF-BP) neural network localization algorithm. This algorithm combines the characteristics of Gaussian, median, and mean filtering, utilizing a weighted fusion back propagation (WF-BP) neural network, and, ultimately, employs the Chan algorithm to achieve optimal estimation values. Through deployment and experimentation on the device, the proposed algorithm’s data preprocessing effectively eliminates errors under multi-factor interference, significantly enhancing the precision and anti-interference capabilities of the localization and following processes.
An essential part of a city’s transportation infrastructure, taxis allow for regular encounters between drivers and customers. Nevertheless, there are issues with efficiency since there is an imbalance in the supply and demand for taxis. This study describes the creation of a platform that serves both customers and taxi drivers by offering immediate forecasts of demand and fare. Root mean squared error (RMSE) of 3.31 and a negative log-likelihood of −3.84, the long short-term memory recurrent neural network (LSTM-RNN) with the mixture density network (MDN) is employed to forecast taxi demand. The best RMSE of 3.24 is obtained for fare prediction via an ensemble learning model that integrates linear regression (LR), ridge regression (RR), and multilayer perceptron (MLP). To ensure peak performance, the models are systematically created, implemented, trained, and improved. By integrating these models into a web application interface, the taxi service system offers a better overall user experience, which improves urban mobility.
