This study aimed to analyze the effects of multicomponent exercise training in older women with osteoporosis. We conducted a systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines and registered on PROSPERO (number CRD42022331137). We searched MEDLINE (via PubMed), Web of Science, Scopus, and CINHAL databases for randomized experimental trials that analyzed the effects of physical exercise on health-related variables in older women with osteoporosis. The risk of bias in the studies was verified using the Cochrane Collaboration tool and the Jadad scale was used to assess the methodological quality of the studies. Fourteen randomized controlled trials were included, with a total of 544 participants in the experimental group and 495 in the control group. The mean age of all participants was 68.4 years. The studies combined two to four different exercise types, including strength, aerobic, balance, flexibility, and/or functional fitness training. The practice of multicomponent training with an average of 27.2 weeks, 2.6 sessions per week, and 45 min per session showed improvements in strength, flexibility, quality of life, bone mineral density, balance, and functional fitness and reduced the risk of falls in older women with osteoporosis. Multicomponent training was shown to be effective in improving health-related variables in older women with osteoporosis.

Aim: To verify the effects of physical exercise on low back pain (LBP) and serum cortisol levels in individuals with chronic LBP. Materials & methods: Randomized controlled trials evaluating the effects of exercise on LBP perception and cortisol levels in adults with nonspecific chronic LBP were included. Results: Four randomized controlled trials were included, with a total of 85 participants in the exercise group and 84 in the control group. The interventions reduced -1.61 (95% CI: -2.36 to -0.85) with inconsistency I2 = 72% (p = 0.031) the LBP level and increased 1.05 (95% CI: 0.22-2.32) with inconsistency I2 = 86% (p < 0.0001) the cortisol levels. Conclusion: The practice of physical exercise for 6 weeks or more reduced LBP levels, whereas the rate of progression of an exercise-training program in people with chronic LBP is greater than 4 weeks, but increased the cortisol serum levels in individuals with LBP.

This study aimed to determine the external load demands of elite Brazilian soccer players by position and playing time, using data from global positioning technology (GPS) at a data acquisition frequency of 10Hz from a Polar Team Pro. Twenty-three professional players from a top-flight Brazilian women's soccer team participated in the study. The women were 27.65 ± 4.66 years, 165.35 ± 5.82 cm and 60.91 ± 5.34 kg. Data were collected during two competitions disputed simultaneously, the The São Paulo State Championship and the Brazilian Championship A1 series of 2019. Nine variables related to the external locomotor demand performed by the players in the disputed matches were analyzed. The statistical procedures used were the two-way ANOVA with Bonferroni post hoc for data adjustment, and Cohen’s effect size (d), with a p-value < .05 adopted to demonstrate statistical significance. The significant differences in the variables total distance, walking distance, jogging distance, running distance, Sprinting distance, acceleration zone 1, acceleration zone 2, deceleration zone 1 and deceleration zone 2 were analyzed, and the results showed a decrease in the external locomotor demand of the loads during the matches played by these athletes. These results should be used to improve load control and adapt training practices in women's soccer teams.

CrossFit® is a training program characterized by high intensity stimulus with constantly varied and multifunctional movements that induces a significant range of physiological, hemodynamic and biochemical responses. Heart rate variability (HRV) can be used to measure how individuals react to physiological stress and fatigue. Thus, the aim of this study was to verify HRV and blood pressure acute responses during and after three sessions of Crossfit®. Nine subjects with more than one year of experience performed three different sessions of CrossFit® to verify the response of systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and HRV. Significant reductions in HRV were observed through parasympathetic indexes (High Frequency(HF), p<0.001) and an increase in the activity of sympathetic indexes (Low Frequency (LF), p < 0.01; LF/HF, p<0.001) after all Crossfit® workouts. SBP decreased (p<0.05) and there were no significant differences between workouts of the day in both HRV and SBP. Different CrossFit® sessions induced similar activity of the autonomic nervous system with reduced HRV and post-exercise hypotension. Keywords. high intensity interval training; Fran; Megan; Diane; autonomic response; post-exercise hypotensive effect.
