Mental health is considered an indicator of well-being in which people perceive their own potential, can face adverse life situations, function adequately and fruitfully, and are capable of contributing to society. In this sense, the objective of the present investigation was to evaluate depression, anxiety, and stress in Peruvian university students upon their return to face-to-face classes. The quantitative approach was used, the design was non-experimental, and the type was descriptive of a cross-section. The sample consisted of 746 students who were administered the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, an instrument with adequate psychometric properties. The results indicate that the students presented low levels of depression and anxiety. However, they presented moderate levels of stress. High, direct, and significant correlations were also reported between depression and anxiety (rs = 0.850; p < 0.05), between depression and stress (rs = 0.840; p < 0.05), and between anxiety and stress (rs = 0.836; p < 0.05). It was also determined that depression, anxiety, and stress were significantly associated with some sociodemographic factors such as gender and age group (p < 0.05). It was concluded that the students presented symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Therefore, it is necessary for university authorities to implement strategies for the evaluation and prevention of these symptoms and for the promotion of better mental health in future professionals to promote their personal well-being and quality of life.

Introduction: the development of research competencies among university students is a crucial aspect of contemporary academic education. These competencies have not only become indispensable for professional advancement but are also essential for societal progress. However, their development is not always uniform, and their acquisition is associated with various variables. Objective: to determine the variables associated with research competencies in university students from Southern Peru. Methods: a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted. The sample consisted of 302 university students selected through probabilistic sampling. Data collection was done using the Research Competencies Questionnaire, which had adequate metric properties. Results: research competencies of 72,8 % of students were moderately developed, 17,5 % were not developed, while 9,6 % were fully developed. Furthermore, upon evaluating dimensions, it was found that organizational, communicational, and collaborative skills were also moderately developed. Additionally, it was determined that research competencies were significantly associated with membership in research groups and the number of weekly hours students dedicated to research activities (p<0,05).Conclusions: membership in a research group and greater dedication of hours were associated with a higher level of development of research competencies. Moreover, overall, it was determined that the majority of students had a moderate level of development of these competencies

Objective: At present, technology has become an indispensable tool in the educational field, especially for basic education teachers who face a growing digitalization of the educational environment. However, this change towards digital is not exempt from consequences, and one of the emerging challenges is computer visual syndrome, which can affect its quality of life. Therefore, the objective of this research was to evaluate the presence of computer visual syndrome in teachers of four Peruvian educational institutions of basic education. Method: The research approach was quantitative; the design was non-experimental and the type was a cross-sectional descriptive. The sample was made up of 161 teachers who were given the Computer Visual Syndrome Questionnaire (CVS-Q), an instrument with adequate levels of reliability and validity. Results: The results indicate that the level of computer visual syndrome of 47.8% of teachers was mild, 32.9% was moderate and 19.3% were severe. Similarly, it was found that the symptoms suffered by teachers were most frequently itching, burning or sensation of burning of the eyes, dry eye, feeling of having a foreign body in the eye and heaviness in the eyelids. On the other hand, it was found that visual computer syndrome was significantly associated with the daily digital device usage time, to have pre-existing eye diseases and the implementation of preventive strategies. Conclusions: In the present research, it was concluded that the predominant level of computer vision syndrome in teachers was low. Therefore, the implementation of awareness programs and the application of ergonomic measures to improve the visual health of teachers are suggested.
