Nowadays, the ever-increasing complication and severity of security attacks on computer networks have inspired security researchers to incorporate different machine learning methods to protect the organizations’ data and reputation. Deep learning is one of the exciting techniques which recently are vastly employed by the IDS or intrusion detection systems to increase their performance in securing the computer networks and hosts. This survey article focuses on the deep learning-based intrusion detection schemes and puts forward an in-depth survey and classification of these schemes. It first presents the primary background concepts about IDS architecture and various deep learning techniques. It then classifies these schemes according to the type of deep learning methods utilized in each of them. It describes how deep learning networks are utilized in the intrusion detection process to recognize intrusions accurately. Finally, a complete analysis of the investigated IDS frameworks is provided, and concluding remarks and future directions are highlighted.
Today, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have dramatically advanced in various industries, especially medicine. AI describes computational programs that mimic and simulate human intelligence, for example, a person’s behavior in solving problems or his ability for learning. Furthermore, ML is a subset of artificial intelligence. It extracts patterns from raw data automatically. The purpose of this paper is to help researchers gain a proper understanding of machine learning and its applications in healthcare. In this paper, we first present a classification of machine learning-based schemes in healthcare. According to our proposed taxonomy, machine learning-based schemes in healthcare are categorized based on data pre-processing methods (data cleaning methods, data reduction methods), learning methods (unsupervised learning, supervised learning, semi-supervised learning, and reinforcement learning), evaluation methods (simulation-based evaluation and practical implementation-based evaluation in real environment) and applications (diagnosis, treatment). According to our proposed classification, we review some studies presented in machine learning applications for healthcare. We believe that this review paper helps researchers to familiarize themselves with the newest research on ML applications in medicine, recognize their challenges and limitations in this area, and identify future research directions.
Electronic commerce or e-commerce includes the service and good exchange through electronic support like the Internet. It plays a crucial role in today’s business and users’ experience. Also, e-commerce platforms produce a vast amount of information. So, Recommender Systems (RSs) are a solution to overcome the information overload problem. They provide personalized recommendations to improve user satisfaction. The present article illustrates a comprehensive and Systematic Literature Review (SLR) regarding the papers published in the field of e-commerce recommender systems. We reviewed the selected papers to identify the gaps and significant issues of the RSs’ traditional methods, which guide the researchers to do future work. So, we provided the traditional techniques, challenges, and open issues concerning traditional methods of the field of review based on the selected papers. This review includes five categories of the RSs’ algorithms, including Content-Based Filtering (CBF), Collaborative Filtering (CF), Demographic-Based Filtering (DBF), hybrid filtering, and Knowledge-Based Filtering (KBF). Also, the salient points of each selected paper are briefly reported. The publication time of the selected papers ranged from 2008 to 2019. Also, we provided a comparison table of important issues of the selected papers as well as the tables of advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, we provided a comparative table of metrics and review issues for the selected papers. And finally, the conclusions can, to a great extent, provide valuable guidelines for future studies.
Recent advances in sensor networks and the Internet of Things (IoT) technologies have led to the gathering of an enormous scale of data. The exploration of such huge quantities of data needs more efficient methods with high analysis accuracy. Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques such as machine learning and evolutionary algorithms able to provide more precise, faster, and scalable outcomes in big data analytics. Despite this interest, as far as we are aware there is not any complete survey of various artificial intelligence techniques for big data analytics. The present survey aims to study the research done on big data analytics using artificial intelligence techniques. The authors select related research papers using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Four groups are considered to investigate these mechanisms which are machine learning, knowledge-based and reasoning methods, decision-making algorithms, and search methods and optimization theory. A number of articles are investigated within each category. Furthermore, this survey denotes the strengths and weaknesses of the selected AI-driven big data analytics techniques and discusses the related parameters, comparing them in terms of scalability, efficiency, precision, and privacy. Furthermore, a number of important areas are provided to enhance the big data analytics mechanisms in the future.
With the expansion of the network and increasing their users, as well as emerging new technologies, such as cloud computing and big data, managing traditional networks is difficult. Therefore, it is necessary to change the traditional network architecture. Lately, to address this issue, a notion named software-defined network (SDN) has been proposed, which makes network management more conformable. Due to limited network resources and to meet the requirements of quality of service, one of the points that must be considered is load balancing issue that serves to distribute data traffic among multiple resources in order to maximize the efficiency and reliability of network resources. Load balancing is established based on the local information of the network in the conventional network. Hence, it is not very precise. However, SDN controllers have a global view of the network and can produce more optimized load balances. Although load balancing mechanisms are important in the SDN, to the best of our knowledge, there exists no precise and systematic review or survey on investigating these issues. Hence, this paper reviews the load balancing mechanisms which have been used in the SDN systematically based on two categories, deterministic and non-deterministic. Also, this paper represents benefits and some weakness regarded of the selected load balancing algorithms and investigates the metrics of their algorithms. In addition, the important challenges of these algorithms have been reviewed, so better load balancing techniques can be applied by the researchers in the future.
