This study aims to examine the views of students who take or do not take outdoor sports as undergraduate elective course at different departments of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University on environmental sensitivity. The study group consists of 288 undergraduate students with a mean age of 20.9 ± 2.19 studying at the Faculty of Education, Vocational School of Higher Education, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Of the students, 140 (90 males and 50 females) take Outdoor Sports as an elective course. Scanning method was employed in the study. A questionnaire on environmental sensitivity to determine the students’ knowledge, sensitivity and attitudes was conducted randomly as data instrument. In the evaluation of data, aside from descriptive statistical methods (arithmetic average, standard deviation, frequency-percentage), normality test was made for all variables in the research. All the variables comply with the normal distribution at p < 0.05 significance level. T-test was conducted for the independent variable in between-group comparisons of the parameters, with a statistical significance at p < 0.05 level. Within this study, a statistically significant difference was found between the general score averages of student views on environmental sensitivity by gender (p = 0.047). However, as far as taking Outdoor Sports as elective is concerned, there was not a statistically significant difference between the general score averages of student views on environmental sensitivity (p = .693). There was also no statistically significant difference between the general score averages of the views on environmental sensitivity of students who take and do not take the elective outdoor sports course (p < 0.05).

This study aims to compare the environmental attitudes of college students who participate in outdoor sports. This study's sample group consisted of 320 university student volunteers who participate in outdoor sports (n=147) and non-participants in outdoor sports (n=173). The Environmental Attitude Inventory (EAI) developed by Milfont and Duckitt (2006) was used to assess participants' environmental attitudes. Turkish validity and reliability analysis of the original form was conducted by Ak (2008). The data obtained from the survey results were collected using Microsoft Excel program and analyzed using SPSS 18.0 package program. Descriptive statistics methods (frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation) were used in the analysis of the obtained data. In addition, the T-test for independent samples was used to compare the means of two different groups, and the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to investigate the differences between the means. On the other hand, Pearson's correlation analysis was used to determine the correlation between the groups. In the analysis of the results, a significance level of p 0.005 and p 0.01 was assumed. As a result, the environmental attitudes of the participants in outdoor sports were more favorable than those of the others. If participation in outdoor sports is widespread and children’s participation in these activities is encouraged, it could be essential in preserving nature and enhancing environmental awareness.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of 6-week karate training on walking skills, a locomotor skill, in visually impaired individuals aged 10-14 years. A total of 20 visually impaired individuals participated in the study. To evaluate the walking skills of the visually impaired individuals, a 10-meter walking test was performed on a walking line that could be felt on the soles of the feet, and the participants' 10-meter walking time, step length, and step number values were recorded. SigmaPlot 11.0 program was used for data analysis. In the pre-and post-test comparisons, the Paired t-test was used for normally distributed data, and the Wilcoxon test was used for non-normally distributed data. In the comparison of two independent groups, a t-test was used for normally distributed data, and the Mann Whitney-U Test was used for non-normally distributed data. According to the findings, there was no statistically significant difference between the 10-meter walking pre-test results of the karate and control groups with and without glasses. When the post-test values were analyzed, a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) was found in all parameters of the karate group except the stride length parameter. In intra-group comparisons, while there was no significance in the pre-post test values of the control group, a statistically significant (p<0.05) difference was found in all parameters of the karate group. As a result, short-term karate training has a positive effect on the walking skills of visually impaired individuals aged 10-14 years.

The relative age effect is a phenomenon that has emerged especially in the educational processes of children. The fact that children born in the same calendar year have more than 11 months between them according to the month they were born brings along great differences in terms of their development. This situation is also seen in sports education. Especially in sports activities that started at a young age, the time difference between the birth quarters of the athletes born in the same year will cause their physical performance to be affected, as their physical development is affected. Relative age effect studies in gymnastics were carried out in individual branches, but no study was conducted on group categories. Most of the studies also mention the relative age effect. Whether there is a relative age effect on athletes competing in group branches of gymnastics has not been investigated before. Therefore, this study was conducted to understand whether there is a relative age effect in the groups categories in Rhythmic Gymnastics and Aerobic Gymnastics branches. As a result of the evaluations, it was seen that there was no relative age effect on the medal winners in individual and group categories in aerobic gymnastics. While there is a relative age effect in some parts of the three seasons examined in rhythmic gymnastics, there is a relative age effect in terms of the athletes who won medals in the individual and group according to the average of the three seasons.
